Hello Eagle Families,
It is so hard to believe we are almost at Thanksgiving Break. This week will be busy at WHS with girls' and boys' basketball games, classwork, and Thanksgiving activities. This is the last week of the grading period for progress report 4. The grading period closes on December 2, 2024, the day we return from Thanksgiving break. Please continue to remind and encourage your child to keep up with their class work, homework, and tests. Attendance plays a big part in keeping up with their academic work. It is important over the next few weeks your child is here everyday to close out the semester with success. Also, as you may know our attendance goal is 92% for the year. Over the last few weeks, we have seen a slight decline and are currently sitting at 91.85 for the year.
Please take note of these important dates in December:
- December 9th: English I retest
- December 10th: Biology and U. S. History Retest
- December 11th: English II retest
- December 12th : Algebra I retest
If your child needs to take one or more of these exams, you will receive specific information via e-mail. Your child will also receive information on which exams they need and where to report the day of testing. This is an important step for our Eagles to ensure they are checking off STAAR EOC on their graduation check lists.
Final exams begin on Tuesday, December 17th. The specific schedule as well as exemption information is further down in the e-mail. Please note our early release days are Thursday, December 19th and Friday, December 20th. Students will be released at 11:35.
For exemptions, students must meet attendance, grade, and discipline criteria as well as not have any fines and fees. We will send out fines and fee information in the coming days.
I also want to take this time to express my gratitude to the entire Willowridge community for your partnership and support. I'm truly very thankful and humbled to be the leader of this campus.
As always, thank you for your support of your child and of Willowridge High School!
I wish all of our Eagle families a very blessed Thanksgiving.
Dr. Roberts
Student ID Updates
All Fort Bend ISD and Willowridge High students are required to have their student ID on their person at all times. Please make sure your child has an ID and keeps up with it. There are several important things to know about the ID processes at WHS.
1. Students must have their ID to ride the bus
2. Students must have their ID in the breakfast/lunch line. We no longer have the touch key pads, so students are using ID to note they have received a meal.
3. Safety. IDs allow us to identify students in the building.
4. Students will need IDs for special events like pep rallies, reward activities, and games
If your child comes to school and does not have their ID, they must get a temporary ID. Temporary ID stations are available in the commons before school and in the hallways upstairs in the morning for students to get a temporary ID.
If your child loses their ID, they can let any teacher or office know and we will make another for them. There is a $5.00 replacement fee that is added to the district's RevTrak system. You will receive notification of the fines and fees. Please note, if a student has a fine or fee for any reason, they are not eligible for exemptions at the end of the semester.
Additionally, repeated non-compliance for not having an ID can lead to discipline such as lunch or after school detention and in some cases in school suspension.
EAGLE EVENTS
Get ready, Willowridge! Here are the exciting Eagle Events happening over the next two weeks.
Our football season has come to the end for the EAGLES. Although it didn’t end as we wanted, we must press on and be ready for the next opportunity. We are extremely proud of our football players for continuously showing class and character and playing till the very end.
Weekend Tutorials
We have Saturday tutorials coming up on the following dates to prepare students who will be retaking any EOCs in December. This time will count for students needing 15 or 30 hours of Accelerated Instruction as well as for students who owe attendance hours.
