Dear Middlebrook Families,
Congratulations goes out to our students and staff members! The Connecticut State Department of Education has once again recognized Middlebrook School as a Connecticut School of Distinction - Category 1 for our High Performance and High Growth for all students in ELA. This is a tremendous achievement, and we can all take pride in our shared efforts, including the incredible support from our parents who back the hard work we put in every day. We’re grateful for your continued involvement and look forward to working together to further enrich our students’ lives, fostering their social, emotional, and academic growth!
We have experienced yet another warm and wonderful week in school. Students played gleefully at recess enjoying the warm air and crisp fallen leaves. Fortunately we were gifted with an exceptional day when we conducted another successful fire drill this week. We thank our students and staff for following guidelines set into place to keep us all safe.
Additionally, thank you to the families who attended conferences on Thursday. Our teachers love sharing with you all they do in class to grow your children. We appreciate the time and effort they put into preparing for your meetings.
Warmly,
Debbie Ponte, Principal
Michele Molloy, Assistant Principal

National Native American Heritage Month
Native American Heritage Month, or as it is commonly referred to, American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month, this is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. It is also an opportune time to educate all Americans about tribes, to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges. We invite you to look at the resources below!

Student Spotlight
PAWSatively Awesome
During the month of October, many students were recognized for demonstrating PAWS behavior. We are so proud of our students! Way to go! We can't wait to see more faces in November!
Math Mania
Students in Grade 2 worked alongside math specialists and classroom teachers.
Grade 4 Science
Fourth grade students participated in their first weathering and erosion lab for science. They created stream tables by mixing sand and soil to build plateaus, then added water. With each trial, more material was eroded, leaving behind, cracks, canyons, rivers, and deltas. Next, they will brainstorm and develop ways to prevent further erosion, and retest their stream tables.
Bus Riders of the Month
Students below have exemplified outstanding behavior on their bus. Whether we are in the halls of Middlebrook or outside in the community, we love to recognize our students who demonstrate PAWS!
