Dear Newcomb K-8 Families and Friends,
This week we will hold our first Lunch with a Loved One of the year. It will be this Friday, 10/18. Please check the details below. Friday is also a FREE DRESS DAY!!!!!!! Students earned this by our school reaching 90% completion of the Annual Verification Process.
We need a Middle School Track Coach. The season is swiftly approaching and we need a few volunteers to help support our athletes. The time commitment is roughly 2 hours per week for practice and then there are 3 district meets- 11/16, 12/7 and 12/11. Wednesday is Unity Day- Students can wear Orange tops and accessories. They must wear uniform bottoms.
Parking & Traffic Update- Please do not park in staff lots. In addition, do not double park or park in red zones or handicapped spaces without a valid placard. We are partnering with LBPD this month to help support our community in following posted traffic laws and signs. You may see increased police presence, they are helping to keep our Spartans safe during pick up and drop off. Thanks for your support.
Thank you to PTSA and our Librarian, Mr. Rugeroni for running a super fun Book Fair. It was great to see how excited our students were and to see so many families and caregivers on campus to join in the fun.

October Foundation Meeting
Foundation Board and Member Meeting - Tuesday, October 15 @ 6:30
The Newcomb Academy Foundation is holding our October meeting from 6:30pm - 8pm at the Lampson Opstad Home located at 7134 E Pluribus Street. We will be going over Foundation business, updates, and future planning. All Newcomb community members are welcome to attend (teachers, staff, parents/caregivers). This is a great way to learn about our organization, contribute to the conversation about how to support our school, sign up to help, and stay informed! This meeting is for grown-ups only.
We will also be holding a Cowboy Casino Night planning meeting directly beforehand at 5:30pm for anyone interested in attending! We can use all the help we can get!!

Please No Food Deliveries
Parents and Guardians-
Please do not have fast food delivered or dropped off in the office. This creates problems for our office staff. The food also attracts ants. In rare cases food is picked up be the wrong person. We do not have the staffing to monitor items left in the office. If a student forgets their lunch, all students have access to a free breakfast and lunch in the Cafeteria. Thanks for your help with this.

2024-2025 Schedules / Important Policies / Procedures
After School Supervision
After school playground supervision will begin on the 2nd day of school. Supervision will run from the end of school until 3:00 pm M-F. All students must be picked up by 3 pm. After 3 pm we do not have any adult supervision. Any students who are not picked up will be brought to the main office.
***The only exception will be on minimum days, when supervision will go from 1 pm to 2 pm.

Emergency Drill Schedule
Below is our emergency drill schedule for the entire year. We practice each month evacuating the entire school. Staff and students prepare for fire and earthquake emergencies and we also practice Lock Down Drills (in the event there is an intruder on campus or police activity in the neighborhood). We also practice Shelter in Place Drills in the event their is an environmental emergency like heavy rain or a lightning storm, bee swarm or gas link. All classrooms are equipped with first aide kits and emergency supplies. This year we will be practicing a full scale disaster drill in February. The Newcomb team is fully prepared to ensure the health and safety of all our students and staff.
