HIGHCREST HEADLINES

We had an exciting first day this morning at Highcrest! Our fifth and sixth graders were eager to meet all of their teachers, reconnect with friends, and see the building. We are looking forward to our first FULL day tomorrow.

This week during homeroom classes, teachers will be reviewing the Highcrest Student Handbook with their students. The handbook includes information about HMS expectations, arrival and dismissal, after school activities, lunch expectations, and more! Parents should review the handbook with their child in the coming days, and then they should sign the last page of the handbook signifying the review of the contents with their child. The signature page is on the last pages of the handbook, and can be printed and returned starting next week.

5th Grade

This year as a 5th grade student at Highcrest, your child will have the amazing opportunity to learn how to play a band or orchestra instrument and sing in the choir! Students will have a presentation on Monday, August 26 to review the different performing ensembles and instrument offerings. Then, between August 27 and September 6, every student will have the opportunity to try several instruments. Enrollment in any of the ensembles can be done by completing the HMS Music Enrollment Form. 6th Grade

Returning 6th grade band, choir, and orchestra students and any 6th graders interested in joining one of these ensembles will attend our informational meeting next Monday, August 26 during homeroom. Ensemble AM rehearsals will begin with Hawk Choir on Tuesday, September 3 and then Hawk Band & Orchestra on Wednesday, September 4.
