The Weekly Update #6
September 15th, 2024
From the Principal
Parents and students,
As we enter the 6th full week of school, be mindful that we are also entering into Hispanic Heritage Month! This month begins on September 15, and concludes on October 15. As a school, we will be celebrating on a daily basis beginning with today. With that being said, we will like to start off the month with celebrating the incomparable Celia Cruz! She was known as the "Queen of Salsa" and recorded over 37 albums, with 23 of them becoming gold-selling albums. Additionally, she sold over 10 million records world-wide and is noted as an ambassador of Cuban music.
This week, we will also focus on Constitution Day on Tuesday, September 17. On this day, students will be able to dress in Red, White, and Blue for $1. We will focus on activities that will enhance student understanding of the significance of the day as this is the day that we celebrate the adoption of the US Constitution that was signed by delegates to the Constitutional Convention in 1787 in Philadelphia, PA.
Parents, we are again asking that you make concerted efforts to ensure that your students are picked up from school on time. As many of our administrators are also parents, when you pick your students up late, then we are then late to appointments and pick-ups, as well. We are asking that you are considerate of the pick up time of no later than 2:45 PM. If you need bus information for your students, please reach out to the school for assistance. Please also note that this Wednesday, September 18, 2024, is an Early Dismissal Day, unless otherwise noted by the district. Please make sure that your student is off campus no later than 11:40 in order for teachers and administrators to prepare for district and school meetings on that day.
Lastly, please assist us in reminding your students of the dress code. We are still having issues with students not wearing the appropriate attire. This includes skirts that are too short, inappropriate footwear, and the wearing of necklaces with the large pictures on them. The dress code can be found in your child's planner. If you have any questions concerning the dress code, please email your questions to the principal.
