Donate Your Denim
We are still in need of many pairs of jeans for our Art for the Sky assembly on October 24. Please check your closets for old denim jeans or shirts. Please ask family and friends too. Any condition, shade, or size will work. Thank you!
Art for the Sky
Rowayton Elementary will be participating in our very own Art for the Sky project on October 24. This is one of many amazing experiences that is supported by our PTA. Your fundraising and contributions allow our students to have these special experiences. Thank you!
Art For the Sky is a unique, team building activity for schools that helps dissolve boundaries that often exist in our daily lives. These enchanting creations are an artful blend of science, history and math: a whole-body way of stimulating our imagination to see the elusive "big picture" and help us better understand our interconnection with all life. With the entire school collaborating in the creation of something beautiful, each living painting is reinvention of how we relate to the world and one another. Each is a heartfelt way of reaching out to the universe to show our love and respect for the beauty of creation. Rowayton's unique "picture" will not be revealed until the activity is complete. Below is a sample from another school.
We are in need of some donations to make this project possible:
12 white bed sheets
200 pairs of blue jeans
Please bring them to school and place in the bins in the office.

Hispanic Heritage Celebration
NPS will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. We look forward to another great event and can’t wait to see what our students have to present! Rowayton students will participate by showcasing projects that celebrate Hispanic heritage and figures. Grade 3 students will be performing at the opening of the event.
Join Us for the Pumpkin Parade on October 31
Pumpkin Parade: The parade will begin at 2:15 on Tuesday, October 31 and will proceed around the blacktop and driveway circle. There will be designated areas for viewing.
Costumes and Attire: Students may dress in orange and black, costumes, or any fall inspired attire. Costumes are not required for the parade.
Costume Guidelines: Please avoid scary masks or costumes that may frighten young children. We want this day to be enjoyable for all of our students. Please do not send children to school with any accessories that resemble a weapon.
Costumes worn to school should allow students to participate in the regular school day (including recess, lunch, and using the bathroom). Any accessories or costume masks should be kept in backpacks or bags until it is time for the parade. Please no full face make up during the school day.
Students may also wear clothing that will fit under their costume and bring the costume to school. We are asking that students be prepared to independently put on their costumes over their clothing. Costumes should be labeled and packed in backpacks or bags.
The PTA will not be hosting a Costume Shop this year. Families in need of costumes can contact our school Social Worker, Stephanie Edwards.
*Kindergarten parents will receive a separate communication from your child’s teacher regarding costume guidelines for that day
Walkathon Celebration on November 1
In celebration of fundraising for the 2024 Walkathon, the PTA Walkathon Committee will be hosting an inflatable obstacle course for all students on November 1. Kindergarten students were the top earners so they will get to close out the day with additional time on the course. A sign up for volunteers is coming if you'd like to help on this day. All students should wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
October's Color of the Month is Pink
The Color of the Month for October is Pink! Pink can represent kindness, love, or shyness. Throughout the month, students will learn about these emotions and participate in activities that support wellness. Students will incorporate pink themes into body, heart, and mind activities. We ask families to join us by considering activities, crafts, or healthy snacks at home that can be used to promote wellness as we celebrate October! Check out a list of pink foods that you can try during this month. Thanks to the Staff and PTA Wellness Committees for facilitating this initiative!
