A Message from the Principal
Dear Big T Families,
We’ve had a fun and exciting week full of energy and school spirit!
📝 CMAS Testing Begins Monday!
Just a reminder that CMAS testing starts Monday, April 7th for our 3rd–5th graders. Please help set students up for success by ensuring they arrive on time, are well-rested, and have a healthy breakfast. Your support makes a big difference during this important testing window!
💃🕺 Let’s Dance!
There’s been lots of dancing happening at Big T lately—and we’re not done yet! We hope to see many of you at our PTA Family Dance TONIGHT! The theme is a White-Out, so wear your brightest white and get ready to move!
🎥 Spirit Dance Video!
Our students recently worked with Brandon Harrington from Find Your Light Theater to create an awesome dance video that showcases our Big T school spirit and highlights our character habits of respect, responsibility, and reflection. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, click here to watch it now!
♻️ Eco-Brick Competition
Keep those eco-bricks coming! The competition is heating up, and Mrs. Messerli's class is still in the lead. We’re on a mission to build insulation for our new composting bins, and your continued support makes a big impact—plus, pizza is on the line! 🍕
🌟 Student Leadership in Action
Check out our amazing 3rd–5th grade student leaders who are stepping up to support their peers and improve our school community. From helping resolve conflicts on the playground, to using art to support regulation in the classroom, to decorating our hallways with uplifting messages—these student leaders are truly living out our Big T mission: Think Big, Act Big, Do Big.
Thank you for your continued support. Let’s keep the momentum going as we head into this busy and exciting final stretch of the school year!
With appreciation,
Sarah Walgast
Principal

Dance Video
This is the video from our dance mix assembly from last week. Thank you PTA for supporting this assembly and Thank you to Brandon Harrington for teaching us the dance routine and creating the video. Our staff and students have some talent for dancing!
Join us for Camp Invention this summer
During the week of May 27th - May 30th Big T is hosting camp invention! This is an amazing opportunity for students to engage in STEM learning!
The camp is $25. Here is the link: https://www.invent.org/program-search/camp-invention/co51/13603
April Fools at Big T
Mrs. Walgast and Mr. Scheese pulled an April fools prank on Tuesday. During announcements Mr. Scheese said he was running a flood drill and asked the students to roll up their pant legs and be sure their shoes are tied tight. He then asked them to find a friend and whisper April fools to them. The Tom Foolery was fun for all!

Messages From The Office
* When your student is absent it is a good idea to reach out to their teacher to get work to do at home. However, still call the attendance line or email the office to excuse the absence. Teachers are busy and may not have time to let the office know that the absence was excused through them.
You can now excuse the absence through the parent portal if that is more convenient for you.
* If your student is absent due to an appointment, please get a medical note from the clinic and send it to the front office. Medical appointments with a note are the only absences the state of Colorado considers as excused for their count purposes.
* Remember, if you need to change how your student normally goes home please call or email the office before 2:30 PM. Stacey.faykosh@tsd.org or 970-613-5600
* Please remember that toys are to remain at home. They can be a distraction in the classroom and there are tears if the toy disappears.
**Small lost and found items are usually kept at the office.
