Principal's Message
Aloha Hickam Families,
Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to attend our parent-teacher conferences. We hope the conferences have served as validation for all the wonderful things your child has done in the classroom while answering any questions you may have. We take great pride in partnering with you on your child's education. If at any time we may be of service, please don't hesitate to reach out to me by either using the contact us button at the top of our website or by calling the front office.
In a few weeks, we are excited to announce that we will start offering more extracurricular opportunities after school. We are finalizing the schedule and will be sending it home to our families shortly. We know our students are extremely well-rounded and are already involved in a myriad of activities. Yet, if your child's schedule permits, we hope he or she can partake in these meaningful learning opportunities.
Sincerely,
Patrick Wetzel
Principal
Halloween Free Dress
Students are invited to display their creativity by dressing up in a school-appropriate costume on October 31st. However, no masks or make-up should obscure the face. Costumes must not hinder the ability to participate in school (i.e. Sit at a student desk and complete school work or change into P.E. attire for 6th-grade wheel). Our Dress code will be reinstated on Monday, November 7th.
Vice Principal's Message
Aloha Hickam Families,
Happy November! It’s a beautiful season, one that is especially exciting for us here at Hickam Elementary. With so many fun classroom activities, events, and learning opportunities, we will no doubt enjoy each day! November is an important time for us all to reflect on the many blessings that we have. I am certainly thankful for the many blessings in my life, including working with our amazing students, parents/caregivers, teachers, and support staff. Our SEL program, Choose Love, is focusing on gratitude for the 2nd quarter. What a great way to help our students and staff learn about ways to recognize and show appreciation for others! Let’s have a great November, Falcons, and please feel free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Ms. Jones
Vice Principal

Boosterthon Program Timeline
Thank you to all our Hickam Ohana for coming by and checking out our first in-person Scholastic Book Fair since 2019. It was a great success and it was wonderful to see parents, teachers, staff and mainly students excited to get their hands on some new books!! Thank you to our volunteers, Ms. Reva Dacanay and Ms. Cyndi Gilbert for making sure the book fair ran smoothly. We will be having a second Scholastic Book Fair in April, so we’ll see you then!!
While you were at the book fair, I hope you were able to check out the Storybook pumpkins that were showcased throughout the fair. This was a record with over 70+ pumpkin entries 🎃🎃Our faculty and staff will have the difficult task next week to judge the pumpkins. Pumpkins will be judged on originality, creativity, and relevance to the book. Good luck to all the Storybook Pumpkin entries!!
