Preparing for the Next Step
Future Steele Superstars, King Tigers, and Silas Willard Wildcats had the opportunity to visit their elementary schools to participate in a lesson, meet new friends, and become better acquainted with their future schools. Older siblings also enjoyed showing their younger siblings around the buildings.

Annual May Day Walk
On May 1st, King School held its annual community May Day Walk. This has been a long-standing tradition at King for over two decades. Many King School neighbors waited for students to arrive, sent emails to the school, and some even dropped notes of thanks to the building.

Mindful Monday
Every day at Lombard Middle School they have a theme:
Students and staff practice techniques on Mindful Monday and Wellness Wednesday to help start the day. Every classroom chooses what works for their students. Some of the activities include:
1. Positive Mirror Affirmations
2. Breathing exercises
3. Identifying emotions on the emotion wheel
4. Yoga
5. Brain exercises that include stretching or challenges
Galesburg Junior Senior High School
Gale Scholars Class of 2028
On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, 10 members of the Class of 2028 participated in the George Washington Scholars induction ceremony held in the Little Theater at Galesburg Junior Senior High School.
The Gale Scholars program, established in 1996, is a partnership between Knox College, Carl Sandburg College, and Galesburg CUSD #205. Students take classes determined by college entrance requirements and must maintain a 2.5 minimum grade point average. Additionally, they are required to participate in at least two school-sponsored activities each year.
After completing the program in high school, students receive tuition-waiver scholarships for completing associate and bachelor's degree programs at Carl Sandburg College and Knox College.
