Updates for Students, Teachers, & Parents about PHS Block Scheduling
We recognize the tremendous amount of information to process for the upcoming school year. Your student’s current teachers, their school counselor, and House Principal are the best resources to answer any questions you may have. Ultimately, our goal is ensuring that everyone has as much information as possible to make the most informed decision about course selection for the 2024-2025 school year.
Additionally, we welcome your questions. Whether it's specific questions about the schedule itself, AM Flex time, Course Selection, AP Courses, Transportation, or others, we look forward to hearing from you. As an Administrative Team, we will meet to discuss your questions, find the answers you need, and make them part of future Communications.

The Block Scheduling Committees were formed nearly three years ago and were comprised of Students, Teachers, Administrators, Parents, Coaches, the Athletic Director, and School Board members.
The Block Schedule exploration teams visited multiple schools in our region and spoke with experienced Teachers and Administrators who have been providing Block education for numerous years.
As a result of several months of evaluations, the Pennridge Block Scheduling Team made a unanimous decision to present the following presentations at School Board meetings in 2023.
Additionally, the Pennridge School District is among many school districts across the region and country who looked into ways to implement later secondary school start times, a practice being recommended by many organizations as a way to get students in that age category more sleep and improve their academic performance, among other benefits. The addition of a "flex" period at the start of the school day was an option after the recommendation of Pennridge's "Late Start and Sleep Committee" work in 2021.
