Some thoughts for the starting school year
Hello SSMS Students and Parents!
We've made it to February and are ready to send out progress reports this week! February will include several different important events so please make sure you have viewed all the individual announcements below for specific details for each event.
Main Events:
- Progress Reports: Will be mailed home this week
- Conferences: Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on February 13th and 8th from 3:30pm-6:30pm
- ATLAS Interim 2 Testing: February 10th-13th
- Course Requests for the 2025/2026 School Year: 7th grade will be completing this in Social Studies classes from Feb. 10-14th; 8th grade will need to be on the lookout for information from the high school regarding CAP conference scheduling later this month.

After School Math Tutoring
We started our math tutoring program at the beginning of the semester and are now ready to extend this service to more students. Please see the letter linked here if you are interested in your student participating in our after school tutoring program. After School Math Tutoring happens on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from the end of school until 5:15pm.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on February 13th and 18th. Conferences will be drop in style from 3:30-6:30pm on each day.
7th Grade: Go over student work portfolio, check grades, parents will verify course requests for next year.
8th grade: Go over student work portfolio, check grades, parents can view student success plans and chat with high school counselors about CAP conferences and high school classes for next year.
ATLAS Interim 2 Testing (February 10-13)
We will be completing our second round of Interim Testing next week! It is very important for students to be present for testing each day. We will begin our test sessions at 8:30am and are hoping to be done by 11am each day. In order for students to be most successful, we ask that students arrive on time, well rested and are here for the entirety of the testing time period. We will be completing one section of the test each day.
Monday: Reading
Tuesday: Math
Wednesday: Writing
Thursday: Science
8th Grade Career and Academic Planning (for High School Courses)
8th grade students have been busy learning about Career and Academic Planning (CAP), Student Success Plans, and Career Clusters over the last week. High School Counselors will be available during conferences on February 13th and 18th at the Middle School to answer any questions you may have regarding high school planning and course selections for next year. In the coming weeks 8th grade parents will receive messages from the High School regarding scheduling a CAP Conference. These are required and will be held at the high school.

Student IDs
Must be worn at all times. If your student needs a new ID, they will order one and it will be printed that day. Replacements are $2 and can by paid with cash or through the school's online store. If your student needs an ID and does not have $2, we will print the ID and then charge them. Invoices will be sent home every 2 weeks.
