NESA MONDAY MESSAGE
May 13, 2024
We have a week full of performances and events, starting with voice recitals tonight and Tuesday, our Dance Tech recital Wednesday, our VA Multiples and IM senior recital Friday, and 800lb Saturday. We would love o see you here to celebrate our students and directors.
800lb Film Festival and the premiere of Fameish will be Saturday, May 18th. We would love for you to join us. Please visit https://nesa.booktix.com to purchase your tickets!
We have an excellent opportunity for all students with an Empowerment Workshop offering. Please see the PDF below for more information. We are looking forward to many positive outcomes.

Please check Skyward regularly. Your student's third nine weeks' report card is available in Skyward. If your student did not meet academic standard, they are officially on academic probation and ineligible. The report card serves as an official notice. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Please be sure to read Mr. Escamilla's Volunteer Vision below and be on the lookout for all communication from your child's major's director.
A few reminders:
- 1st period begins promptly at 8:50 AM
- if more than 5 minutes late to class, it is an absence
- Dress code will be enforced, so please review dress code expectations
- Student pick-up and drop-off is in the large lot off of Montview by the PAC
- All attendance notes must be turned in to the attendance office
- The PAC is closed in the morning until 8:40 AM unless you have a pass
- Lunch must be eaten in the cafeteria or courtyard
- If you have a concern or issue please contact your child's major's director first, we'd like to honor communication chain of command
- Please help us by clearing the building within 30 minutes of the end of a performance

Please stop by the NESA office for your Senior shirt and NESA stole. You may pay your $40 dues to Ms. Garcia in the NESA Office. Your NESA dues are different from your LEE senior dues of $50.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS
- All potential volunteers must complete an online Criminal History Record Check form *one-time only.
- You can find the form here: https://portal.neisd.net/volunteer?SOURCE=V
- Once an individual has completed the form successfully, he or she is issued a volunteer ID #.
- Volunteers should receive a confirmation email from Raptor when their application has been processed and approved.
- We'd like to encourage volunteers to plan in advance and submit online forms ahead of time.
- Please remember we cannot show up to volunteer if you have not yet received confirmation. This process is not immediate.
- Applicants must be 18 years and older to volunteer.
NESA STUDENT HIGHLIGHT
Last Fall, the first ever Cinema Games competition was held. This is an internal NESA Cinema Competition to see who is the first team to complete 4 projects in a semester, and two teams win Audience Choice for each of the advanced cinema classes. Below are the winners!

- Cinema Games Audience 7th and 8th Period Audience Choice Winner: William Hirschi, Xochi Garza -Cortez, Elicia Parker, Mary Sierra Sampson, Harriet Martin

3 NESA Cinema Seniors lead the charge for the All American High School Film Festival Winter Invitational National Competition. Below are the students leading the charge for the competition!

Every single NESA Cinema Student that submitted to Contemporary Art Month was accepted into the film festival. Out of 29 films selected, 16 of those films are NESA Cinema Students. Below are the NESA students that were accepted. Film festival will take place March 8th at the Tobin Center. Congratulations to our amazing film makers.

Please congratulate NESA VA senior, Bela Siptak. Her 2023 AP Drawing portfolio was selected as one of 50 from all entries worldwide to be included in the 2023 AP Art and Design Exhibition. The exhibit will go live on December 1st. This is a tremendous honor for a well-deserving student.

NESA VISUAL ART STUDENTS HONORED AUTUMN HOWARD
When Moore College of Art visited NESA VAs this past fall, seniors Autumn Howard and Evelyn Vale received acceptance on the spot. Dedicated and hardworking painters, Autumn and Evelyn have been accepted into the prestigious Moore Visionaries Honors program. As participants in this honors program, Autumn and Evelyn will benefit from additional supports, internship opportunities, and a $25,000 annual scholarship. Additionally, at Moore's invitation, these young artists will travel to Philadelphia in early February to attend the Visionaries Honors Day. Congratulations to Autumn and Evelyn - we could not be more proud of you and your accomplishments!
