Special Presentation for Parents: Social Media Safety with Ronna Glickman
As parents or guardians, have you ever asked yourself any of the following questions or experienced these situations with your child:
1. What is the right age to get my child a cell phone or a social media account?
2. Am I invading my child's privacy by looking at their online conversations?
3. My child seems moodier and less social with family and friends since getting a mobile device.
4. I have ongoing arguments with my child about their devices and online activities.
Join Social Media Consultant and Speaker, Ronna Glickman, on Tuesday, October 29th from 6:30-7:30 pm at Ruben A. Cirillo High School to get the answers to questions like these and more!

#Unity
Mrs. Carlett's sixth grade ELA classes are participating in the Global Read Aloud, an experience which promotes connection across the globe. The idea is that one book can connect the world. Sixth graders are reading
The Bridge Home by Padma Venkatraman and making global connections with as many other classrooms as possible. This amazing opportunity supports Gananda's PROUD characteristic of Unity, as students make their first global connection by creating postcards to exchange with five other classrooms in British Columbia, Ontario, North Carolina, Iowa, and Missouri. As they eagerly await responses to their postcards, they will continue to discuss their thoughts, feelings, and questions about The Bridge Home with other classes using digital means such as Padlet, Flipgrid, and maybe even a mystery Skype!

A dry climate or heated indoor air irritates and dries out nasal membranes, causing them to bleed. Winter months will create more nosebleeds. Colds may also irritate the lining of the nose.
How to stop a nosebleed:
Lean forward slightly with the head tilted forward. Leaning back or tilting the head back allows the blood to run back into the sinuses and throat, and can cause gagging or inhaling of blood. Spit out any blood that may collect in your mouth. It may cause nausea, vomiting if swallowed. Gently, blow any blood clots out of your nose. The nosebleed may worsen slightly when you do this but this is expected.
Pinch all the soft parts of the nose together between the thumb and index finger.
Press firmly toward the face - compressing the pinched parts of the nose against the bones of the face. Breathe through your mouth as you do this.
Hold the nose for at least five minutes. Repeat as necessary until the nose has stopped bleeding.
Sit quietly, keeping the head higher than the level of the heart. Do not lay flat or put your head between your legs.
Apply ice (wrapped in a towel) to nose
Consult a doctor for a nosebleed if bleeding cannot be stopped, there is a large amount of blood loss, or you feel weak or faint. Also if you frequently get nosebleeds.
