WREATH SALE EXTENDED ONE MORE WEEK
NRMS PTO: Wreath Fundraiser
Dear Students and Families,
The NRMS PTO is excited to announce our annual holiday wreath sale HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL NOVEMBER 22.
How does it work?
Students pre-sell wreaths for $20 each. They collect the orders and money and record it on their sheet (see attached instructions and order form) and turn in both to their Nauset Time teacher.
Wreaths will be delivered to NRMS in early December (date TBA). Students will pick up the wreaths on that day and deliver them to the people that purchased them.
Students will earn individual credit towards their 8th grade class trip. This goes for 6th and 7th grade students. Those students will have the money set aside for them to help pay for the cost of their trip when they get to 8th grade.
Important Note: If the 8th grade trip is cancelled for any reason or the student doesn't go on the trip that money will go back to the NRMS PTO for their use in PTO sponsored events.
Order forms were distributed on Monday, October 28th to students. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to AJ McHugh (NRMS PTO President) at anthonyjmchugh@gmail.com
Thank you,
NRMS PTO

Updates From The Principal
Hello NRMS Families,
This week we held the National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony in our auditorium. It's always a special occasion to celebrate and honor some of our most outstanding 8th graders. We also recently named the five NRMS representatives to Project 351, a community service program that includes one 8th grade student from all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As a regional middle school, we get to select an 8th grader from Brewster, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, and Truro. These five students will represent our school and their towns in Boston at a kick off day of service in January. It was a great week of recognition for our scholars and student leaders.
This week also marked the start of the second quarter of the year. Students attended new exploratory courses and have a fresh start in their year-long courses. The grades for the first quarter will be posted in Aspen by the end of the week and then report cards will be available to you next week.
One priority for our district and schools across the state is improving daily attendance. Attendance in school matters! Each quarter we will recognize students that have perfect attendance and those that have been absent two or fewer times in a quarter. The goal is for all students to miss no more than 9 school days during any school year. Please note that missing school not only causes students to miss lessons, activities, and assessments, it also could close doors to future opportunities. Attendance is a factor in admission to schools, including Cape Cod Technical High School. One of the best ways that a parent/guardian can support their child's academic success is to ensure that students are attending school, on time, every day. Please do not plan family vacations outside of the designated vacation weeks. Any missed day of school is recorded as an unexcused absence unless a doctor's note is provided. Missing school means missed instruction and missed opportunities for a student to receive academic support. Together we can hit our attendance goals and avoid any student being designated by the state as "chronically absent." For reference, we currently have 40 out of our approximately 460 students that have already missed 6 or more school days. Let's do better this quarter. Attendance matters.
Finally this week, we have a number of ways for the community to support our students. You could join the PTO and/or you could participate in the annual PTO Wreath sale (orders are now due!). We also have been gifted a beautiful piece of artwork that we are auctioning off. See below. And soon, we will bring back the NRMS Education Foundation, a registered 501c3 that will be raising funds to support our students and staff. We appreciate whatever support you can provide, as we continue to strive to be a beacon on Cape Cod of high-quality educational opportunities for our students. Thanks for your support.
