Hello Pine Families!

With our first early release day of the year now behind us, we're about halfway through the first grading period. Be sure to communicate with your child's teacher on how the year has started. Beginning of year assessments are complete, intervention groups are rolling, and teachers and staff are working to give all students a chance to learn. Be sure your child is attending school each day to set them up for success!

Tuesday is Constitution Day across the State of Indiana. Wednesday our fourth grade students will be on a field trip to Trail Creek Week, and after-school clubs including Piano, Art Club, Computer Club and Soccer will continue. Pine students have so many opportunities to enhance their learning!

We're looking forward to another great week of learning at Pine!

Pine is happy to welcome Mrs. Kuckson back to her kindergarten class! Many thanks to Mrs. Pavloff for getting those students off to a great start this year! Let's keep the learning going!

Work has begun on our new playground! The "big" playground where our 3rd - 6th graders spend their recess each day is being revamped to provide all new equipment, flooring, and play structures. Thanks to the work of MCAS staff to secure funding to cover the sizeable cost of this project, we are now ready to begin the work! Please know that there is fencing up to keep children separated from where the installation is taking place, and multiple staff members are monitoring each recess period to ensure students are safe.

Doors open at Pine each morning at 8:15. Students have until 8:45 to arrive, have breakfast, and wait with their classmates in the gym. Teachers pick up students by 8:35 to head to classrooms. Students arriving after 8:45 are marked tardy. Be sure your children arrive on time!

Late arriving students should be walked into the office by a family member and signed in. Please refrain from dropping students off at the curb without checking them in. Student absences should be called into the office. Students learn most when they are at school each day! Let's work together to have the best attendance possible!

Some parents have yet to sign and return the Home/School compact that was provided earlier this year. Please get those in ASAP! Contact Mrs. Timm in the office with any questions or to confirm whether or not yours is still needed.

All students will have a supervised 15 minute recess each day before lunchtime.

All Pine students are invited to take a school breakfast and school lunch each day at no cost to families. Parents who prefer to send a home lunch with their child are of course welcome to do so.
