A Message from Our Principal
Dear Farnham Families,
Ensuring the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. Today, we conducted a lockdown drill as part of our regular safety practices. These drills help us prepare for unlikely emergencies by teaching students and staff how to respond quickly and appropriately.
We understand that safety drills can feel serious or even a little overwhelming, especially for younger students. Our goal is to approach them calmly and ensure students feel safe while learning important procedures. Teachers prepared their classes ahead of time to ensure the drill was conducted in a supportive and reassuring manner.
Your support in maintaining a safe school environment is invaluable. We kindly remind all families and visitors to sign in at the office every time you come to campus. This ensures we know who is on campus at all times, helping us maintain a secure environment for everyone. Please also make sure that your contact information is up to date with our school office and that you are receiving texts from Farnham as that is one of our primary means of communication in an emergency.
As we approach Thanksgiving Break next week, I want to express my gratitude for the incredible Farnham community. It is a privilege to work with such dedicated students, staff, and families who work together to create a warm and supportive environment.
I wish you all a joyful and restful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude, connection, and love. Thank you for being such an important part of what makes Farnham a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Be well,
Amy O’Hehir

Independent Study Announcement
The laws surrounding independent studies have recently changed, and below are some of the notable changes:
An Independent Study can only be used for emergencies, illness, or unique and special circumstances.
Independent Studies can be for one instructional day and no more than 15 consecutive school days.
Only one independent study agreement is permitted per school year.
Ten school days' notice is required before the start date of the Independent Study.
Independent Study will not be granted within the first three weeks of a school year.
Independent Study will not be granted during the annual state testing window.
Independent Study will not be granted within the last three weeks of a school year. (That would be after Friday, May 15, 2025, for the 2024-25 school year.)
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we adjust to the new laws and regulations.
A NOTE FROM YOUR HSC BOARD:
As we head into the holiday break, the HSC wanted to take a moment and thank all of the wonderful volunteers who have helped make all of the fall events a success! We could not do this without community support, and we hope everyone can recharge over the next week.
Some of our Farnham Dads have put together a few opportunities to continue building that community. See flyer below for details.

An Astronaut Visits Farnham!
Exploration is a dangerous business that requires taking risks and making very tough decisions. To cope with extreme environments and challenges, explorers draw on a particular set of attributes and habits that includes creative thinking, resiliency to setbacks, and perseverance. It’s The Explorer’s Mindset™.
Astronaut, Steve Smith
After selection by NASA, Steve was the first assigned to fly in his class. He flew on four space shuttle missions and performed seven spacewalks, including 5 to repair the Hubble Space Telescope.
Childhood Dreams became Reality
Steve Smith first dreamed of being an astronaut at age 7. He pursued that dream with determination for nearly three decades despite multiple, serious setbacks until he became one of America’s most experienced astronauts and spacewalkers.
