ALT ALERT!
Del Amigo & Venture Alternative Education School
Principals Message
Dear Alt Ed Community,
Happy New Year Alternative Education!
We are truly excited and proud about all of the amazing things that happened throughout semester one at Del Amigo and Venture. The learning, growing and connections went well beyond the classroom!
Del Amigo- October we participated in a visit as a part of the Model School Recognition Program for the State of California. The visiting team spoke to students, staff, parents and service providers to evaluate Del Amigo’s overall effectiveness. In addition, classroom observations were made and data regarding progress and performance were analyzed. The team informed us that Del Amigo met all the criteria to be recognized as a Model School program. We are so excited. We look forward to an official announcement coming from the State Superintendent and will share it as soon as it is received.
Thank you to our amazing students, staff and parent community for your continued support and love for our school !
To date we have also had 4 graduates from Del Amigo and students who have met the criteria to transfer back to their comprehensive school at the semester. Each grading period we meet with students to review their graduation plans and celebrate all of our “CREDIT CRUSHERS!” We look forward to continuing this practice in 2025!
Venture- Throughout Semester one we welcomed new students and gained comfort with our blended learning model. Fridays in-person (VIP) have truly become a day of shared learning, peer collaboration and connection to support resources. We have hosted school wide events (Fall Festival and Winter Wonderland) in order to build our relationships and celebrate our diverse culture.
Venture Seniors worked diligently to submit their college applications in the Fall. Some students have already received acceptance letters while others are still waiting to hear. We are proud of all of your hard work and are here to support you in this HUGE transition. We will be hosting FAFSA workshops in the near future so be on the lookout!
Lastly, our school is excited to celebrate Inclusive Schools Week next week, where we celebrate providing a supportive and quality education to an increasingly diverse student population, including students who are marginalized due to disability, gender, socio-economic status, cultural heritage, language preference, and other factors.
Our Leadership students will lead the charge and we have some activities planned to celebrate!
I hope everyone has a wonderful start to 2025! I look forward to an awesome year!
Lynsie Castellano, Principal

Alt Ed Families:
Welcome Back to the 2nd 1/2 of the school year. This Friday is our IN PERSON ACCESS day, 8:45-10:30 a.m. We will have Hot Chocolate and other goodies along with activities to help us jump into 2nd semester.
Senior Parents and Students,
If you have not started filling out the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), that's ok, it just opened up in December. Many Trade School, 2-year, or 4-year schools require this as a step in their registration process. Diablo Valley College and Las Positas College require this as a step to get priority registration. Look through THESE Slides for some helpful hints.
Schedule a meeting for additional questions with Ms. Kruse if needed.
Thank you,Alissa Kruse

Student Email Account Security Updates
In response to recent phishing attacks, we’ve implemented important changes to student Gmail accounts to enhance security and protect our school community.
Key Updates:
Students can no longer send emails to more than 30 recipients at a time.
Students can only send emails to recipients within their school site.
If a student needs to communicate with 30 or more recipients, a staff member can create a group with the required recipients and designate the student as the group manager. Please submit an IT ticket if you need additional support setting up Gmail Groups.
For additional information and resources, please refer to the Phishing Awareness and Reporting page on the Intranet, and the Cybersecurity one-pager. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community secure.
