NEWSLETTER~~~~~~~~~May 3, 2024
LCTC Community,
It’s hard to believe our seniors only have 2 1/2 weeks left with us! Our next few weeks are quite busy as we finish our certification and credential testing, and the many more fun learning experiences teachers have planned. This week I had the pleasure of attending Churchill and Franklin's Honors Nights and presenting LCTC Academic Excellence awards to seven amazing LCTC seniors:
CHS
Cole Booth - Game Design and Animation/Web Design
Zachary Reid - Engineering Design II
Jaylen Knight - Game Design
FHS
Charlotte Adkins - Advanced Graphic Design
Madison Irey-Aniol - Advanced Medicine
Lilliana Alcala - Advanced Sports Medicine
Aubree Allie - Hospitality Management
Let’s make every effort to attend class daily, be on time, and stay focused in your classes. As the weather warms up, please adhere to the school dress code policies. Please drive slowly and carefully in the parking lot.
Have a wonderful weekend!

LCTC Principal
CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASS
FBI Special Agent Mike Fitzgerald discussed how the polygraph (lie detector) helps improve investigations and provides FBI recruitment information to the Criminal Justice students. To date, no student has been able to beat the "poly."
Criminal Justice students fingerprint each other and then analyze the fingerprints. Fingerprints are unique to each individual and there are 3 types of fingerprints. Students were able to identify and classify fingerprints by identifying the unique characteristics of fingerprints.
Criminal Justice students learn the non-lethal force and compliance control techniques. These techniques have been proven to reduce injuries to officers and subjects by targeting areas of the body that cause motor nerve disruption rather than any type of injury.
Lt. Brian Kapanowski, of the Dearborn Police Department, breaks down a homicide investigation and teaches students how social media forensics can be used to gather evidence in an investigation. The case discussed resulted in five homicide convictions and was solved solely based on communications exchanged on a social media messaging app.
SFC. Misiolek from the United States Army presented to students and discussed the job opportunities the Army has to offer.
ANIMATION & WEB DESIGN AND GAME DESIGN CLASS
Students in Animation/Web and Game Design enjoyed a Team Building Activity with a mobile escape room. They also had an in-person visit from Full Sail University where they participated in hands-on workshops where they created Augmented Reality and 3D sculpting projects.
Animation students worked with a professor from the College for Creative Studies. He gave feedback on their designs and provided a lesson on drawing characters and environments.
Currently, Animation students are learning how to use Adobe Animate to create 2D animations, and Game Design students are learning how to use Blender, a 3D modeling program.
Graphic Design and Fashion Merchandising Classes
Graphic Design and Fashion Merchandising enjoyed a trip to Chicago on April 24 and 25. They toured the Museum of Contemporary Art and The Art Institute of Chicago Museum and School. We also enjoyed many tourist attractions such as SkyDeck, Magnificent Mile, Millenium Park, and Navy Pier, along with deep-dish pizza from Giordano's. We were so lucky that it happened to be Fashion Week and some students had a great experience at one of the shows.
The students also attended a fashion show at the water tower in the evening and previewed a unique Asian and Modest Fashion Show. Students liked the vibrant colors and the unique design of the apparel. They walked through the streets of downtown and experienced all their dynamic stores. They were able to shop and look at window displays to check out all the Spring styles.
What a great trip to end the school year!!
