Holiday Winter Concert
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
We were able to bring in the holidays with joy as we closed out 2023 at Blanquita B. Valenti Community School with many wonderful events and activities! We were able to recognize our students for academic achievement, perfect attendance, and their accomplishments in the ST Math competition. We celebrated with our families during our first Movie Night and an incredible Winter Concert performance. Seeing all of our students from Kindergarten to Eighth Grade enjoy and take part in the many activities such as our Holiday Bazaar and Holiday Sing-a-long was a joyful experience. We look forward to 2024 and all that it will offer! BBV Soars!

CELEBRATIONS and RECOGNITIONS
Winners Pizza Party
BBV students spent time competing in an online math program called ST Math. There were 54 winners at the end of the competition. All the winners were treated to pizza and snacks.
Learning fun with a math puzzle competition
ST MATH PUZZLE COMPETITION
BBV students spent 2 weeks completing math puzzles and earning their way to mastery of the topics they played. ST Math Competition winners have come out on top of their grade in a number of completed puzzles. As a school, our students completed over 35,000 puzzles over a 2 week period. That was no easy feat! We are proud of each and everyone of them, top 6 or not. Competition coordinator, BBV Math Specialist Mrs. Friedman, commented, "I wish we could award them all!".
JiJi, the giant blow up penguin mascot, was on hand when students received their winner's certificates at an awards assembly. Finally, our ST Math class competition is still going. The top class with the most average number of puzzles completed will earn the privilege of hosting the JiJi plush for the month.

Gift Baskets to Share
In this recent season of giving, our charitable team, led by the school social workers, once again demonstrated how resourceful they can be. They consistently find ways to make sure our families have goods especially during the holidays. Food, clothing, toys are usually on the list of donated give-a-ways.

Parents were thrilled, entertained, and supportive at the Holiday Winter Concert. There were two assemblies held on December 21st. One in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Grades K through 3 performed in the morning and 4 through 8 in the afternoon.
Students sang holiday songs, and played instruments as participants of the band and orchestra. The middle school chorus performed as well.

Sixth Graders Readingπ©ββ€οΈβπ©π To Kindergarteners
Mrs Dalton's 6th graders spent time reading and making snowflakes with Ms. Martir / Ms. Glenn & Ms. Taylor's Kindergarten classes. All of the students benefitted from this shared experience.
Christmas Sing-A-Long
There was a lot of excitement in the gym when the physical education teachers welcomed some special guests. Santa and Mrs. Claus happened to be in the area, stopped by the gym and joined students in a holiday sing-a-long organized by our gym teachers.
Various grades took turns leading songs projected on large screens. Students danced, sang, hugged Santa and Mrs. Claus all in the spirit of fun and celebration.
WORKING WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Holiday Goodies
The PTO organized a "Holiday Bazaar" pop up shop to benefit upcoming BBV student centered activities. Students and staff worked together in the operation of this holiday project.
The "Holiday Bazaar" is one of many opportunities for students to get involved in school and community service projects. This one will help defray costs of some student end of year activities. More specifically field day, yearbook, and other various 8th grade graduation costs.
