Your Vote Counts
The Superintendent's Blog
We are in the last days of the Millard Bond referendum, and I wanted to provide one final reminder to vote. As I write this letter to you, the ballot return numbers updated daily on the Douglas County Election Commissioners website are lower than we would have anticipated at this point in the election.
Why does voter participation matter? Because we want the results of the election to reflect the will of our community.
I also completely understand why the ballots may not have been turned in yet. Your home is probably a lot like mine. We have way too much going on. While voter participation is near to my heart as a former social studies teacher, above all, homework has to get done, dinner has to be made, and you need to run kids to various activities and events.
As you plan to get your ballot completed, please be aware that voting ends next Tuesday, February 11th, at 5 p.m. The Douglas County Election Commissioner advises it is too late to mail ballots. Ballots should be returned to one of the ballot box locations indicated below to ensure your vote is counted.
Finally, to quickly review, the main features of this bond include improved school safety, renovation of older schools, modernization of facility space for the skilled trades and multi purpose spaces, and maintaining critical facility infrastructure and other aging facility features. The bond will not increase the tax rate. For more information on the bond, please visit our website.
We are so thankful for our community and appreciate you choosing Millard for your children!
