Clow Elementary School
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Clow School Arrival/Dismissal Overview
Students may enter and exit the building through:
- Door 1 (Main Entrance) - for students arriving by school bus
- Door 3 or 4 (Back of Building) - for students who "walk" to school
- Door 9 (Multi-Purpose Room) - for students arriving by vehicle through carline
Please note that all school zones are CELL PHONE FREE.
We kindly ask that all drivers remain alert and attentive while driving on/near school property to maintain a safe environment for all.
Car Rider Arrival & Dismissal
Car Rider Arrival Information - Students should be dropped off using the MAIN parking lot carline. Follow cones in the carline and staff supervisors will direct students to exit the vehicle from the passenger side. Parents should hold students in the vehicle until they are directed to exit. Students should NOT be dropped off at the back of the building near the blacktop/playground and instead should only be dropped off after pulling through the full parking lot circle and being directed to exit by staff. After exiting vehicles, students will walk through the school's multi-purpose room and staff will guide/assist students with navigating through the building to their classroom.
Car Rider Dismissal Information - Students will be assisted to the multi-purpose room just before dismissal. If you are picking your child up via the carline, we ask that you hang a sign in your passenger side window with your child’s last name in bold print, along with the first name(s) of your child(ren). This will allow us to quickly identify vehicles in our carline and expedite the dismissal process. Staff will direct students to their vehicles as they pull up in the carline. We ask for your patience as we dismiss students in the carline. Please note that students should only enter and exit from the passenger side of a vehicle and parents/guardians should plan accordingly.
Walker Arrival & Dismissal
Walker Arrival Information - Students may enter through Door 3 or Door 4 (back doors by playground). Please choose a consistent entrance for your students. Staff will be available to direct students into the building and to their respective classroom.
Walker Dismissal Information - Students will be escorted to their exit door, by classroom teachers. Students in grades 3 & 4 will be dismissed from Door 4 (back door closest to the playground) and students in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 5th grades will be dismissed from Door 3. Please talk with your student(s) about your dismissal plan (walk to our car, wait for me behind the school, etc.) so that your child knows what to do at dismissal.
School Bus & Daycare Van Arrival & Dismissal
Bus/Day Care Rider Arrival Information - Students will be dropped off by bus/van using the front circle drive and will be directed by staff to enter the building through Door 1. Staff members will be available to assist students with navigating to their classroom/teacher.
Bus/Day Care Dismissal Information - Students will be called via the intercom to the front door and will be directed/assisted to the appropriate bus/van.
Other Important Details to Note
Crossing guards are available in several locations to assist students in their safe arrival and departure from school. Please respect the guidance and directions given from the crossing guards as they work to safely assist our students each day.
Sides of Midland – The crossing guard will assist students at the corner of Springdale Circle and Midland. Students should only cross with the assistance of a crossing guard.
Dewhurst near the bike racks – A “kiss & drop” lane exists for convenience and traffic safety. Please do not park or linger in this lane.
Leverenz – A “kiss & drop” lane exists in this location as well. Please do not park or linger in this lane.
Note: Signs are posted on the west side of Midland indicating, “no stopping, standing, or parking,” during school drop off/pick up times. Please adhere to posted signs on this street and throughout our school community.
Please remember that “kiss & drop” zones are designed to facilitate traffic flow. Watching a child walk from the street to the building significantly slows traffic. Be considerate of other parents in this regard. Cars should not park or sit for long periods of time. Thank you for your cooperation. Frustration on the part of other drivers makes unsafe conditions for all our children.
At times, students can confuse being a "walker" versus being a "car rider." We consider students to be a "car rider" when they are getting into a vehicle in the main parking lot "carline." If your child will be walking from school to meet you at a vehicle parked on Dewhurst, Leverenz, or another local side street, we would consider that student to be a "walker," as they will exit out one of the back doors and then walk to meet you at your vehicle. Thank you for clarifying this with your student!
The school's front circle drive (near the main entrance) is reserved only for buses, daycare vans, and RISE student drop off/pick up. Other vehicles will NOT be allowed into the front circle drive during arrival and dismissal time. If you have other business to attend to in the school office during arrival or dismissal time, please park your vehicle and walk to the school.
Please note that adults without an appointment will not be allowed into the school between 8:50 am - 9:05 am and 3:35 pm - 3:50 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Wednesday, those times are 9:00 am - 9:15 am and 3:35 pm - 3:50 pm.
