NSPRA Recognizes Hawthorn District 73 for Excellence in Communications
Hawthorn District 73's communication efforts have been nationally recognized by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).
NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards honor outstanding publications, newsletters, videos, podcasts, websites, social media, and more.
Hawthorn District 73 received the top distinction—Award of Excellence—in three categories at this year’s national conference in Bellevue, Washington: Newsletter, Video Series, and Podcast.
The district newsletter, D73 Digest, launched in the 23-24 school year, delivers the latest news directly to families' inboxes. This bi-weekly newsletter keeps our school community informed and engaged with system updates and upcoming events.
Hannigan's Shenanigans, a video series featuring superintendent Dr. Pete Hannigan, showcases his interactions with students. Dr. Hannigan says, "This series gives me the opportunity to connect with our students in a fun and meaningful way. It highlights the awesome things happening in our schools and the amazing students we have at Hawthorn." Hannigan's Shenanigans returns for its third season in the 2024-2025 school year.
The D73 DRIVE Podcast, created by the Innovative Learning Department, also received an Award of Excellence. This podcast connects with students, parents, educators, and staff through engaging conversations, interviews, and updates on district initiatives. It enriches our community's experience and showcases the talent and dedication within our schools.
"Our team’s dedication and creativity shine through these projects, and it's incredibly rewarding to see our efforts recognized on a national level," said Samantha Cook, Communications Specialist for Hawthorn District 73.
