February 2025 💘

Our Mission....
At Crain Elementary, we inspire lifelong learners who positively contribute to our multicultural community through rigorous blended learning and strong relationships in a safe and nurturing environment.
Attendance Matters
At Crain, we strive to reach our campus attendance goal of 94% or above each day, and with your support, we KNOW we can achieve it! Our Quarter 3 attendance average was 93%, which is close but still a bit shy of our target. We’re excited to share that our students are loving the new attendance incentives we’ve introduced!
Here’s a quick rundown of what we’ve got going on:
- Daily: Classroom flags and spelling out “Perfect Attendance” for a Pizza Party!
- Weekly: A drawing for a coin for our Book Vending Machine for students with no absences or tardies, plus a grade-level paw for the highest attendance.
- 9-Week Period: The grade level with the highest attendance average wins a pickle & popcorn party.
- Yearly: The grade level with the highest overall attendance wins a Kona Ice party!
Let’s work together to make sure our students are here, learning, and reaching their full potential every day. Thank you for your continued support!
🚨🚨🚨NEW DATE: TELPAS TESTING🚨🚨🚨
Testing days are not like other school days. To comply with state and local policies, we must always maintain a secure testing environment. Visitors are not allowed in secure testing areas, including hallways, cafeteria, or other areas where students who are testing may be located. Therefore, no visitors will be admitted on campus on upcoming TELPAS Assessment Dates. Even if your child is not participating in the assessment, the campus remains closed to visitors.
Crain will be closed to visitors from March 4 - March 7, 2025.
🤕 A Note From the Nurse 🤕
This weather brings colder outdoor air, seasonal allergies, and cold viruses, which means runny noses and coughs. It can be difficult to distinguish between what is an allergy and what could be the flu, other respiratory infections, or cold symptoms. Here are some suggestions to navigate through this time of year.
· If your student has known seasonal allergies, prevention of symptoms is possible when starting allergy medication in a timely manner.
· The flu is typically characterized by sudden onset of chills, body aches, fever, and respiratory symptoms.
· Symptoms of respiratory infections could be headaches, muscles aches, fever, congestion or runny nose.
· When in doubt please reach out to the nurse.
Please review coughing techniques with your children; coughing/sneezing into your elbow helps prevent the spread of germs and allows them to stay in school and enjoy learning. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, irasema.shnowski@visd.net. Thank you, have a great month.
