Topper Up!
"For the Community...By the Community." This quote from one of my favorite sit com's of all time could not be more perfect to start this newsletter. The tireless efforts of our CMS PTO Executive Board and additional volunteers made for an outstanding night! The event ran smoothly, the food was delicious and the names of each horse in each race were very creative.
Our staff thanks ALL parents who attended, participated in the silent and live auctions and were present in spirit. The CMS Topper students will absolutely benefit from your generosity!
As we begin the month of March, we continue to be thankful to have a supportive community, focused on their child's well being and academic performance.
See you this week,
Craig Caroff
Representing Chardon Middle School at the GCCTM Competition!
On Saturday, Feb 22, 2025, Chardon Middle School was one of 12 host schools for the Greater Cleveland Council Teachers of Mathematics competition for 4th and 5th grade. This year over 1200 students from 50 schools participated across northeast Ohio! Students spent the morning working in teams solving story problems, making math constructions, and doing a mental math challenge. We are so proud of all the hard work the 4th and 5th graders put in during the weekly practices leading up to the GCCTM competition! Congratulations on a very successful and mathematically fun morning!
Honoring our CMS Staff who led our Toppers!

Balancing Technology with Student Wellness - Presentation and Video
Recently, Chardon Local Schools partnered with the ESCNEO, Ohio Guidestone, Geauga County Sheriff's Office, and Geauga County JFS to present on the topic of online safety, impact of technology on brain development and function, and how to set boundaries, have conversations, and limits to technology in family homes. In case you were unable to attend, the presentation, including resources, is linked HERE. The upcoming book study is for any caretaker who would like to discuss HOW to implement these boundaries, and talk about raising children in this digital age. Please reach out to Joan Blackburn at the high school or Kate Collins at the middle school with any questions.

NEW Message from Ms. Jenn in the CMS Clinic
Hello Parents
We are still seeing Flu, Strep, pinkeye in the school
Please review good hand washing with your kids
Please review proper cough etiquette with them as well
Kids have to be fever-free for 24 hours and have no use of Tylenol or Motrin the 24 hours prior to returning to school.
If your child is ill please keep them at home. If they do come to school I will assess them ,do an intervention, and follow the school health guidelines before calling you.
6th-grade parents, please remember the 7th-grade vaccines are due in August.
They are due 1 week after school starts. The 2 that are needed are tetanus and meningitis. I do look often on the State vaccine website, but not all providers are affiliated. You can always get a printout at the appointment and have your child bring it to me. If you need an exemption form, call me. I have sent a few home via email and in person with the kids. I have only received a couple back.
Please continue to call the office or me with anything that is considered contagious.
We are almost to Spring.
Thank you
Jennifer Trittschuh RN BSN LSN
