Evergreen Middle School
January 13, 2025
Message from Principal Collins
Hello Families,
Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were filled with joy, relaxation, and time with loved ones. As we welcome 2025, I’m excited about the opportunities and growth awaiting our Evergreen Middle School community. As we move into the year 2025 and take the time to reflect on the holidays, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our teachers, staff, students, and our parents for your dedication to helping make Evergreen Middle School an amazing place. I deeply appreciate your continued engagement in your child's educational journey.
January marks the end of the first semester and the start of the second half of the school year, and it’s a pivotal time for reflection and action. With our focus on academic goals, we’re committed to ensuring that every student is prepared for success. Whether it’s reviewing progress in core subjects, refining organizational skills, or enhancing learning through the Grizzly Way, we’re ready to finish this semester on a strong and productive note.
In the next few weeks, scholars will be taking the reading and math iReady assessment. As I’ve stated before; -Ready is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help your student’s teacher(s) determine your student’s needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows our teachers to meet your student exactly where they are and provides data to increase your student’s learning gains. These assessments provide valuable insights into each student's progress in reading and math, helping us tailor instruction and interventions to meet their individual needs. The results also guide our planning to ensure every student is on track to meet academic goals.
We encourage families to discuss the importance of these assessments with your child(ren). Remind them that this is an opportunity to showcase their growth and highlight areas where they might need extra support.
As always, your involvement is key to our success. Encourage your students to stay engaged, organized, and focused as we begin the new year. If you have questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We are coming to the end of our second sports season, the 3rd season will begin right after that. If your scholar already has turned in a physical form this year, they do not need to complete another physical. Good luck to all of our 2nd season athletes as we finish their season. I can’t wait to see our 3rd sport season athletes represent Evergreen.

Attendance Matters One of the most important keys to success is being present—every day counts. Each day in class is a chance to learn something new, grow in your abilities, and connect with friends and teachers. Attending school consistently helps build a strong foundation for both academic and personal achievements. Parents, your ongoing support in ensuring students arrive on time and ready to learn makes all the difference, and we are so grateful for your partnership.
Best Effort in All Endeavors Let’s commit to giving our very best in everything we do. For students, this means coming to class prepared, approaching assignments with care and determination, and fully engaging in lessons and activities. It also means treating one another with kindness, respect, and understanding. Parents, your encouragement and involvement provide the steady support our students need to thrive. Together, we can achieve remarkable things.
A Look Ahead The second half of the year is a wonderful time to reflect on how far we’ve come and set inspiring goals for what’s next. Whether it’s tackling new challenges, building stronger connections, or celebrating milestones, each moment is a step forward in our shared journey. With teamwork and a positive spirit, we know this will be a fulfilling and successful chapter for everyone. As we settle back into our routines, let’s keep in mind that our collective efforts— students, staff, and families—create the warm and supportive community that makes our school so special. Here’s to an incredible second half of the school year filled with joy, growth, and accomplishments.
Positive Thoughts for the New Year! The only way to make change is to see these challenges that we face as opportunities!
You can learn something new every day if you listen!
“When we learn how to become resilient, we learn how to embrace the beautifully broad spectrum of the human experience.”
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful. Committed individuals can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think!
“Although no one can go back and make a brand-new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand-new ending.” – Carl Bard
“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. – Buddha
Thank you for your continued partnership in making EVG a place where every student can thrive. Together, let’s make 2025 a year of growth, achievement, and community!
