Students have been working on so many different independent art projects.
MLK Day of Service
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, students were able to sign up for a volunteer opportunity. One group of students went to the CommUnity Food Bank and helped package up food, diapers, and more. It was a nice way to give back, as CommUnity donates a TON of food to our school pantry.
Another group went to the Ronald McDonald House. They made 7 TATErtot casseroles for the families staying at RMH and got a tour of the facilities. The group cheffed it up in their industrial kitchen.

12th Grade Immunization Requirements
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Iowa law requires all students entering 12th grade to have received two doses of meningococcal vaccine; or 1 dose if received when the student was 16 years of age or older.
Please check your child’s immunization record or call their health care provider to find out if they have received these vaccines and make an appointment if necessary. Additional resources:
Johnson County Public Health also provides immunizations to children with or without health insurance, please call 319-356-6042 to make an appointment.
If your child does not have insurance, they may qualify for an appointment at Healthy Kids School-Based Clinic. Call or text 319-631-3204 to see if you qualify for an appointment.
According to state law, they will not be able to start school on the first day of 12th grade without proof of having received at least one dose of these important vaccines. It is important to contact your health care provider soon, as summer appointments fill up quickly.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

House Into Home Change Your World
My name is Madison Bruce and I am the Project Coordinator for the Houses into Homes Change Your World Youth Volunteer Academy (YVA). I am getting in touch to share some information with you about this service learning opportunity available to 10-12th grade students and see if you would be willing to pass it along to students in your community.
Houses into Homes is a non-profit organization located in Coralville. We provide gently-used beds, furniture, and household items to families and individuals in Johnson County who are exiting homelessness, domestic violence, and other crisis situations. Our mission is to help people feel the comfort of home, honor their experiences and engage them with unconditional positive regard. Houses into Homes is the only organization of its kind in Johnson County. We proudly offer volunteers, recipients, donors, and staff a unique opportunity to meet and impact those with whom they share our community.
YVA members learn about housing inequity and social justice and engage in hands-on service activities. Participants work in our warehouse, deliver beds and furniture to a recipient household, and participate in learning sessions with community leaders. After the success of the fall program, we are excited at Houses into Homes to be hosting YVA again this spring.
