ELA - Mr. Baldwin
6th Grade
6th grade is working on paraphrasing external sources to use in an informative paper about one of the 13 British colonies that eventually became the United States. 6th grade is also reading pieces about school integration from the 1960s written from a student's point of view.
7th Grade
8th Grade
8th grade is writing informative papers about an invention that has benefited humanity. They are honing their research skills and beginning to use MLA in text citations to give credit to the sources they found information from.
Science - Mrs. Cronin
6th Grade
6th Grade- Students learned about the 8 planets by researching them, creating posters, advertisement videos, and making 3D models. Currently, they are learning about the water cycle as well as the rock cycle.
7th Grade
7th Grade- Students learned about the comparisons and contrasts between cellular respiration and photosynthesis. Currently, they are learning about the cell cycle.
8th Grade
8th Grade- Students learned about the physical and chemical properties and changes. Currently, students are learning about the periodic table.
Social Studies - Mr. Baldwin and Mrs. Simon
6th Grade
6th grade has just started discussing the ancient Egyptians and their way of life. We will be writing our names in hieroglyphics on papyrus paper we make.
7th Grade
7th grade wrapped up the geography of the United States with looking at natural disasters common to the region. They also are learning about the Navajo people's woven art and making woven bookmarks
8th Grade
8th grade is in the middle of discussing the 13 Colonies. They will discuss the geography economy and way of life. This will lead to the Revolutionary War.

6th Grade

8th Grade
We have been working on tables, graphs, and rules and how they all work together. We have also been solving more equations with the Distributive Property. I am impressed on how well they are doing with these more complex equations.
Rotation Classes
Literature - 6th grade
6th grade is reading the novel Holes by Louis Sachar and Ghost by Jason Reynolds.
FACS - 7th grade
7th grade has been learning about nutrition and healthy eating. One activity they did was plan a healthy meal for themselves and their families. More recently, they have reflected on gratitude before the upcoming holiday.
School-wide Events
Community Service Project
The middle school took advantage of the nice November weather and raked leaves for several people around town.
Family Game Night
Middle School Student Council members channeled their inner Steve Harvey and Pat Sajak and hosted a game show style family game night.
Veterans' Day Assembly
8th grade took part the annual Veteran's Day assembly at the school. They shared the meanings of the folds of the flag, and read the poem In Flanders Fields honoring veterans.
Teacher for an Afternoon
As part of American Education Week, the older students got to put on their teaching hats and go to the elementary school for the last part of the day. Middle school worked with grades K-2 and did a wonderful job! I think we may have some fantastic future educators in this group!
Thanksgiving Potluck
Middle School Student Council planned a delicious Thanksgiving feast for the middle school.
