Headteacher's Message
Dear Families
Weβve had another busy and exciting week here at Teddington School. From rehearsals for our school production, to sports fixtures and TEDdington talks, the energy across the school has been great. Well done to all students for remaining focused and engaged in lessons.
On Tuesday, the Senior Leadership Team were joined by two members of the Teddington Leadership Team (TLT), who presented feedback on student voice from the first half term. They highlighted successes and areas for improvement, offering thoughtful insights into our school. We are planning lots of leadership roles for students in the near future, it will be great to see them take ownership for their school and ensure the experience is positive for all.
This week in sport:
- Our Year 10 boys Rugby League have qualified for regionals due to being the away team in a draw of 36 - 36 vs Turing House
- Year 9 boys Rugby saw a close loss of 8 - 6 in the final of the Borough Rugby league vs Turing House
Both teams should be incredibly proud of themselves, such fantastic achievements!
Next week, our talented students will take to the stage to present Little Shop of Horrors. We are hosting three of our local primary schools, Collis, St John the Baptist, and Stanley, to watch our matinee performances between Monday - Wednesday. Our evening performances are running Monday - Friday and are almost sold out! If youβre still hoping to secure a last-minute ticket, please check the post below. This promises to be a fantastic week showcasing the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.
We have two upcoming parentsβ evenings. Year 13 Virtual Parentsβ Evening is taking place on Wednesday 4 December, and Year 11 have an In-Person Parentsβ Evening on Wednesday 11 December with details to follow in the next couple of weeks. We encourage all families to take advantage of these opportunities to discuss progress and next steps with teachers.
I am pleased to inform you that we have had an update from TfL regarding after school bus service on Fridays. They have confirmed the 681 bus will now mirror Monday - Thursday service running at 15:05, 15:10, and 15:15 from our usual bus stop on Broom Road. The Friday service will commence from Friday 24 January 2025.
Congratulations to Prajin Pratheepan who is one of our Year 13 Physics students. He has recently received a gold award for the BPhO Computational Challenge, in which he has been engaged throughout the past year. Having become a student member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and aiming to study Aeronautical Engineering at university, Prajin completed a project studying how airflow and air resistance affect projectile motion. This is the first time a Teddington School student has earned such an award.
Looking ahead, with just three school weeks and two days remaining until the end of term, we urge all students to maintain strong attendance and remember every day matters. Also, as the colder weather sets in, please ensure students are dressed warmly and appropriately; this is especially important for those cycling to school. Full uniform remains essential for all students, and your support with this is greatly appreciated.
Finally, weβd like to apologise for any recent miscommunication regarding positive points on Arbor. We are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it promptly.
Thank you for your continued support. We're wishing you all a wonderful weekend, we look forward to welcoming students back in on Monday for an 08:30 start.
Kind regards
Mr P Grills
Headteacher
