Dear Birney Bear Families!!!

I hope you are all staying safe and warm throughout this chilly month of January! We are happy to be back at school from our winter break and teaching and learning are in full swing. Our teachers are working to ensure students are engaging with high quality instructional materials so that they will be prepared for our upcoming spring testing. In order to ensure your child is successful in mastering the standards in all subject areas, please talk to your child daily about what he or she has learned each day at school. Read with your child and have your child read to you. Our English learners will be taking their English Language Proficiency test next month, and we are all working together to make sure they are practicing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. As always, please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to a wonderful month of teaching and learning!

¡Espero que todos estéis seguros y abrigados durante este frío mes de enero! Estamos felices de regresar a la escuela después de nuestras vacaciones de invierno y de que la enseñanza y el aprendizaje están en pleno apogeo. Nuestros maestros están trabajando para garantizar que los estudiantes interactúen con materiales educativos de alta calidad para que estén preparados para nuestras próximas pruebas de primavera. Para garantizar que su hijo tenga éxito en el dominio de los estándares en todas las materias, hable con su hijo diariamente sobre lo que ha aprendido cada día en la escuela. Lea con su hijo y pídale que le lea a usted. Nuestros estudiantes de inglés tomarán su prueba de dominio del idioma inglés el próximo mes y todos estamos trabajando juntos para asegurarnos de que practiquen sus habilidades de comprensión auditiva, expresión oral, lectura y escritura.
