Google Meet and Video Lessons

Google Meet gives educators the ability to host live meetings to provide lessons to students. Teachers at the high school level have been using Google Meet for classroom instruction as well as during office hours. Additionally, the District plans to begin using Google Meet as a tool for learning specialists who work with students on IEPs, counselors, and English Language Development teachers in grades K-8.


When used by teachers for instruction, these lessons may be recorded so that students who are unable to attend the live lesson can watch it at a later time. These lessons will be posted securely in Canvas, Google Classroom, or Seesaw. We take your child’s privacy seriously. If you or your student are uncomfortable being recorded, your child can turn off the video during the session or watch the recorded lesson once it is posted.


We also take the privacy and security of our staff seriously. In addition, to live lessons through Google Meet, teachers are also posting video lessons. As students engage more fully in Distance Learning, we ask that students and families adhere to the following guidelines:

  • All content shared in video conferencing or through video lessons is for educational purposes only.

  • By accessing the material, students and families agree not to share content with anyone not enrolled in the class or assisting an enrolled student.

  • Unauthorized distribution of any distance learning content, including sharing video recordings or screenshots on the internet or social media, is strictly prohibited.

  • The District’s Student Body Handbook states that students may not use any Google Apps for Education (including Google Meets) for the “...Misrepresentation of Sherwood Schools, staff or students (Apps, sites, email and groups are not public forums. They are extensions of classroom spaces where student free speech rights may be limited)”.

  • Response time may vary depending on the volume of requests

  • We've received many requests for hotspots and are awaiting our shipment; in the meantime, families can access public wi-fi for free in the parking lots of several local businesses. A list of these locations can be found at https://wifi.xfinity.com/


Device Repair and Pick-Up Hub

The District has created a location to drop off damaged devices and pick up replacements.

  • Location: Archer Glen Elementary rear covered area

  • Hours:

    • Monday and Wednesday from 8am-10am

    • Tuesday and Thursday from 2pm-4pm

Bus Route Planning

As we prepare for the 2020-21 school year, our Transportation Department is in the process of planning and timing new bus routes. You may see our school buses coming through your neighborhoods for this purpose. Please stay tuned for future communications about new bus stop times and locations for next year, which will be released prior to June 11th.

SSD Buildings and Properties are Closed

As a reminder, all Sherwood School District buildings and properties are closed to the public until further notice. This includes playgrounds, basketball courts, and other District facilities. We encourage the use of social distancing guidelines, and ask that groups not congregate on athletic fields, running tracks, or other areas on our campuses.
