School Spotlight
Dominic Innocent, in Mrs. Herman's fourth-grade class, is an awesome artist! His classmates were going crazy for his drawing of Mr. Hatch from the text read this week: Somebody Loves you, Mr. Hatch!
Big Brothers Big Sisters came in for a surprise announcement on Friday. They recognized the work that Mrs. Rudy, our fourth-grade special education teacher, does with their organization. Thank you for making a difference in our school and the community, Mrs. Rudy!
Fourth-grade students in Mrs. Wilson's class were busy this week! They learned about and explored magnets in science class. They also completed a Jungle Escape Room to practice inferring when reading a text!
Fifth-Grade Learning by Alaina Long
Fifth grade has learned so much this week! We continued to work with conjunctions and practiced using RACE (Restate the question, Answer the question, Cite evidence from the text, Explain your answer) to respond to questions about various short passages. During reading, 5th grade learned about “The Celestials’ Railroad,” while in math we continued to work on adding and subtracting mixed numbers with unlike denominators. In science and social studies, one team presented their state projects and the other team worked on their Southeast region projects. This week, for Random Acts of Kindness, we wrote accolades, made people smile, and filled gratitude jars with kind words of appreciation. 5th grade ended the week by exchanging valentines with one another. What a great week we had!
We celebrated students following the Dutchmen Way this week! Students were recognized with positive phone calls home and Red Ticket Experiences. Keep showing that you're respectful, responsible, and ready to learn, AE!
This was Random Acts of Kindness Week! Students and staff participated in themed dress days, as well as ways to spread positivity, smiles, and appreciation in our school!
One act of kindness our students completed this week was a gratitude jar for each classmate. Each student created a jar, and their classmates filled it with a variety of reasons that they are grateful for the person or appreciate about them!
We ended the week celebrating Valentine's Day with one another! Students shared special greetings, small gifts, and treats with one another to show they care.
