Dear Students & Families,
We want to wish everyone a safe, happy, and relaxing Spring Break. We hope everyone comes back refreshed and ready to finish out the school year. We return to school on Monday, April 1st and there are myriad events that week: the IB Art show goes up; students will attend the 2024 FBLA State Leadership Conference in Denver; and the choir with CHSAA Large Group Festival Competition at Rifle HS.
Attention Seniors and their Families!
Please take a moment to read the Senior Family Communication from Sarah Strassburger.
It has important dates and information for the Graduating Class of 2024!!
IB DP Highlight
Aspen High School has just completed its 5 year IB Diploma evaluation. Eileen Knapp, our IB DP Coordinator, has been working tirelessly to complete this review. This is an intense process that spans a full year of work that includes surveys, meetings with students, staff, and parents, and admin; as well as intense reflection and documentation on our strengths and areas for improvement. Thank you to everyone!

From Post-Secondary Counseling
CMU Promise Days
On April 5th Karen and Brennan will be taking students to Colorado Mesa University’s CMU Promise Days where we will spend the day touring campus, hearing from current students, and enjoying lunch in Mesa’ dining hall “The Caf.” This is a great event for admitted seniors and for underclassmen who may be interested in applying. School bus transportation is provided. Click here to sign up. Space is limited. Colorado Mesa University has so much to offer and tuition is free for AHS students from households who earn $65,000 or less - that’s the CMU Promise!
FOR JUNIORS:
LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Letters of recommendation from teachers are a very important part of a student’s college application. Beginning April 1st juniors may request letters of recommendation from teachers. All juniors should follow the guidelines outlined in this Teacher Letter of Rec Document and of course talk to your Post-Secondary Counselor with any questions.
REGISTRATION NOW OPEN - COLLEGE APPLICATION CASE STUDY PROGRAM
40 college admissions reps are coming to Aspen High School's College Application Case Study on Thursday, April 11th, from 6-8pm. This is your big chance to learn how admissions committees review applications and make decisions. You'll also be able to meet 1:1 with the admissions reps after the Case Study at a college mini fair in the Commons.. Space is limited. We highly recommend all juniors and their parents sign up this week to secure your spot! Click here to register! Parents, if your student is not able to attend (due to sports, work, etc.) please attend on your own - this program offers a wealth of information on the college application process.
INDIVIDUAL JUNIOR MEETINGS
It is so important that all juniors have at least two individual meetings before the end of the year. If you haven't done so already, please schedule your Individual Meetings with either Karen (students with last names A-K) or Brennan (L-Z) as soon as possible. Parents are always encouraged to join these meetings either in-person or virtually so choose a meeting time that works for both student and parent. Click here for our meeting scheduler (scroll down to the Juniors section). ***Students are not allowed to miss class for these meetings. Please schedule before school or during SET, lunch, or a free period.*** So that the individual meetings are as productive as possible, completed junior and parent intake forms are requested.
