- MCTI Field Trip Recap (April 23, 2025)
A heartfelt thank you to the staff and students who attended from WCC Young Adult,
WISD YAP, Progress Park, Dexter High School, Lincoln High School, and
Central Academy for making our visit to MCTI a success! Special appreciation to the
chaperones who supported students throughout the experience. Students were highly engaged,
expressing strong interest in culinary, automotive, cabinetry, CNA, and custodian career pathways — a key goal of this field trip, and and many shared that they could envision themselves living on
campus. The trip to MCTI helped students see real possibilities for their postsecondary future.
Summary of Performance Reminder
Summary of Performance (SOP) Reminder
As the school year winds down, we enter a time of transition—promotion from grade to grade, graduation, and the completion of educational programming. For many students, these are their final days in our buildings. As educators, it is our responsibility to ensure students leave with the tools and resources necessary to support a successful transition to the next stage of their lives.
What is Required?
A Summary of Performance (SOP) must be completed and provided to:
The student (if they have reached the age of majority)
Parent(s)/guardian(s) (if applicable)
This is not optional—it is a required component for all students who are graduating or completing their programming.
For more detailed legal guidance, please refer to Wright’s Law regarding the SOP.
How to Locate and Complete the SOP in PSSP:
Search for the student in PSSP.
Go to “Create New Document.”
From the drop-down menu, select “Transition.”
Click on “Summary of Performance (SOP).”
Complete the document and finalize it.
Provide a copy to the parent/guardian/student (as appropriate).
A visual guide is attached to help you locate the SOP in the system.
If you are a new teacher or unfamiliar with the process, please don’t hesitate to ask for support. Ensuring a smooth transition for our students is a team effort—thank you for your attention to this important step!

Washtenaw County Post-Secondary Transition Manual
This Tuesday’s Transition Tip is a review to some and introduction to others. It is important as special education providers/case managers that we create structured and detailed postsecondary transition plans for our students. The Washtenaw County Post-Secondary Transition Manual is a guide to assist special education staff with creating complaint post-secondary transition plans. This guide contains a table of contents to help locate information quickly. The manual also gives insight on how not only to build a complaint transition plan but a quality transition plan. It includes links, videos, and an appendix to assist. Please take the time to read and review the Washtenaw County Post-Secondary Transition Manual.
Need resources
The WISD Transition Services website has an assessment library with FREE electronic forms/materials. Check it out!
Also the WISD has a lending library of assessment and curricula resources using the WISD Destiny Library.
