LHS 5.11.25

Dear Lincoln High School Families,
On this special day, we take a moment to recognize and celebrate the unwavering dedication, love, and support that mothers and caregivers provide to their children every day. Your encouragement, sacrifices, and guidance shape the students who walk our halls, inspiring them to grow, learn, and achieve their dreams.
At Lincoln High School, we are deeply grateful for the partnership we share with you in nurturing and educating your students. Your role in their journey is irreplaceable, and today, we honor the strength, compassion, and commitment that define motherhood and caregiving in all its forms.
We wish you a joyful and peaceful Mother’s Day, filled with love, appreciation, and well-deserved moments of rest. Thank you for being the heart of our school community.
Kindly,
Ms. Wendy Bridges
Principal, Lincoln High School

IN THE CLASSROOM
Hands On Learning in Chemisty
As part of the Place-Based Education unit on Chemical Reactions, Mrs. Pathak's Honors chemistry students embarked on an insightful field trip in collaboration with HRWC, to Riverside Park. Situated in Ypsilanti, MI, the park provided a real-world laboratory for assessing the health of the Huron River. Through hands-on testing, students measured crucial water quality indicators such as pH, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity. They also conducted benthic macro-invertebrate sampling to gain a holistic understanding of the river's ecosystem. This experiential learning opportunity allowed students to directly investigate potential pollutants in our local water sources, explore mitigation strategies, and reflect on their roles as responsible citizens in protecting these vital resources.
Congressional Art Show
The congressional art show was Saturday May 3rd in Ann Arbor. Students' artwork from the 6th congressional district were represented. This year we had three students' work in the show. Shayla Weber, Clara Wells and Tony Marshall (placed 2nd and their work will be on display in Debbie Dingell's local office for a year). The student's work is from Mrs. Czaja's painting class. A shout out to Mr. Bowling for making sure the artwork got there safe and attending the event for the past two years with Mrs. Czaja.
Guest Speakers from U of M Department of Engineering
Dr. Susan Montgomery, a student advisor, from U of M's Department of Engineering visited Ms. Galler's class to talk about what chemical engineering is, the program of study it takes, and careers in the field. She was accompanied by three students who talked about their experiences in the program and why they chose to study it.
