Class of 2027 What's Happening

Dear Class of 2027,

I hope that you are enjoying your summer relaxing with family and friends. This summer we took a trip of a lifetime on the Mediterranean to celebrate my 50th Birthday. So Fun! Whether you lose yourself in a book, a bike ride or a vacation, take time to break from the routines of the school year and discover parts of yourself, which feed and rejuvenate you. While you are away, reflect on your first year at KHS, celebrate your achievements, and identify opportunities for your growth as a learner, athlete and person. Set a goal that you wish to accomplish this year; share it with friends, family members and teachers; and work towards your goal using the KHS community to support you in this quest. Dream Big! I want to hear about your summer and your goals when you return.

Last year, our class successfully transitioned to high school. We befriended new classmates, competed against upperclassmen on stage and field, and grappled with more complex academic concepts. While many adults and students helped us, each of you is responsible for these accomplishments as they resulted from your hard work, dedication and thoughtfulness.

This year, as sophomores we will face new opportunities to grow and learn. Teachers will challenge us to think abstractly, to read more actively and to write more complexly. Coaches will push us to hone our skills and mentor the freshmen. Friends will look for support in moments of joy and sorrow. Parents will expect responsible actions as your privileges expand; your curfew changes or you land your first job. You are ready for these adventures and I cannot wait to share them with you!

I look forward to seeing each of you on Back to School–Schedule Pick up on August 7 from 10:00AM-3:00PM & 4:00PM-7:00PM or August 8 from 10:00AM-3:00PM. The first day of school, Tuesday August 20 is a no drop day and you will meet with all seven teachers. I am excited for the upcoming year as we build upon our accomplishments and continue to make a positive mark on the KHS community.

All fall athletes will meet with Coach Nesslage at 3:00 p.m. in the Holley Assembly Hall on August 12.

All athletes must have their PRIVIT Profile up to date with updated physical by Thursday, August 5 to guarantee you will be “CLEARED” as a FALL athlete on PRIVIT by August 12. The “clearing” process by Ms. Kavanaugh takes 30 seconds per athlete for over 600 athletes.

All athletes must “SELECT” the team or teams you plan on participating on. This should be done for all seasons of the school year, IF you are a multiple sport athlete.

Please review the information below from the KSD finance department and MySchoolBucks:

Due to rising payment processing interchange fees and continued increases in operational costs, we’re updating the MySchoolBucks program fee that parents and guardians pay at checkout to $3.25 for all cafeteria credit/debit card prepayments beginning on July 11th. If your district accepts e-checks, the program fee for electronic check payments will increase to $2.75 per meal payment on the same date. This adjustment to our program fee for school meals is necessary to continue providing you and your families with the best and most secure online payment experience, while continuing to maintain the highest levels of data privacy.

The program fee is designed to cover the costs of providing the optional MSB services and includes a variety of items, including payment processing costs, live parent and school support, compliance and information security requirements, as well as the software used to manage meal payments.
