A message from Principal Stewart
Hello, Cocoa Tigers!
I am excited to welcome our students, families, and staff back for another great year of learning at Cocoa High School. It is always so wonderful to see how much the students change and mature from one school year to the next. For some of our upperclassmen, we have been privileged to be part of their journey from 7th grade to now seniors at Cocoa High, the Class of 2025!
I truly believe that our community emphasis on our core values of Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline and Empathy (PRIDE) helps contribute to our academic success. It is with great Tiger PRIDE that I share with you that our students showed a lot of academic growth last school year. We increased student proficiency rates in 9 out of 12 tested subject areas. Our greatest growth happened in our 10th grade reading performance (increased 13%), our 8th grade math performance (increased 11%), and our US History performance (increased 17%). Even more importantly, our students who have the most academic challenges had a 52% increase in learning gains in reading and 57% in math.
As a Title I school, we are fortunate to receive extra funding from the state to assist with providing support and interventions for all students. Last year Title I funding helped us provide after school tutoring, over 100 field trips for college and career experiences, technology for students and classrooms, parent night events, and extra personnel on campus to provide school day tutoring, mentoring, and supervision of students. This year we have invested even more Title I money into personnel because we recognize the benefit of having instructional support and the ability to provide small group and one-to-one tutoring and mentoring.
I look forward to another great year of learning at Cocoa High School, and I am always grateful for the support of our families. I hope to see you at one of our many parent events sponsored by Title I this school year.

STUDENTS IN ACTION
CSI Visits New Forensics Class
On August 30th, Crime Scene Technician Ivan Rivera, as well as Detective Sal Fogu, both from the Cocoa Police Department, visited Cocoa High’s new Forensics class.
Students were exposed to a short lesson on Forensics, shown how to lift fingerprints off an item, and were able to find out more about what a career in law enforcement entails.
This is the first year Forensics has been offered here at Cocoa High School, and the response has been phenomenal!
JROTC
CHS Robotics Team: 1592 Bionic Tigers
Our Bionic Tigers are growing and learning to use manufacturing technology to build robots. We meet every Tuesday and Thursdays after school. Students are getting hands on experience in engineering. We are very fortunate to have volunteers from our community assisting us with these students. Our is a group of students learning to use the lathe machine and others problem solving.
Our Engineering Technology class were able to create rubber band cars using household items. The students had fun and were able to problem solve their problems.
Annual Rose Awards - Culinary
Our very own Culinary students proudly and professionally represented Cocoa High at the Annual Rose Awards held at the Cocoa Beach Hilton Garden Hotel. These students were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the Hospitality Industry. This event is sponsored by the Florida restaurant and Lodging Association and is a main sponsor for culinary competitions with scholarships up to $60,000 offered to our students. Each year I am asked to pick outstanding advanced as well as up and coming culinary students who have a passion and potential for the industry. Students also get to meet local Brevard Hotel & Restaurant owners and managers for future employment opportunities.
