Greetings Patriot Families,

This week our students will engage in a digital learning day on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Please ensure that your student checks the Schoology page for each teacher to stay abreast of assignments that will be provided for that day. Additionally, we are encouraging all students to sign up for and take advantage of our Saturday Success Program on Saturday, November 9, 2024. This just in time support is provided to students who are struggling to remain in good academic standing at Sandy Creek. Our 13.5 week progress reports will be available in Infinite Campus next Thursday, November 14, 2024 so please ensure that your student is passing all assignments and does not have any missing assignments in the gradebook.

The Fayette County Board of Education has extended the deadline for the climate Survey. The Fayette County Board of Education is seeking your feedback in the form of our Climate Survey for families. This survey will serve to inform how we of we can improve teaching and learning, school safety, and community relationships. Congratulations to our coaching staff and our Varsity Football team for winning the Region Championship on Friday night at home against Troup County, 55-48. Please keep our injured players and their families in your thoughts as they navigate through this difficult time of recovery. Swimmer Jack Jung has qualified for the State Swim meet in the 200 free and 100 breast stroke race! Our Academic Team is making a strong showing currently in 3rd Place behind Starr's Mill. We are closing the gap with each competition and hope to have updated progress next week! Congratulations are in order for senior Donovan Sutton for winning the 2024 Fayette County NAACP Community Service Award! We are so proud to have him represent Sandy Creek! Our Varsity Flag Football team continues their hot streak defeating Creekside High School.

Congratulations to Senior Donovan Sutton on receiving the Fayette County NAACP 2024 Community Service Award! His dedication to civic engagement, community service, and academic excellence was celebrated at the annual NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet this weekend. This recognition reflects his outstanding contributions and commitment to making a positive impact in the world.

The math lab will now be open during study hall on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Please tell students to request a pass to 226 if they need tutoring. I'm also attaching something you can post if you'd like.

The academic Team is currently maintaining 3rd place in the region.

All cadets flew in a small propeller plane. Either a Cesnna 172, 182, or 206. Two or three cadets were assigned to each flight. The lucky cadet assigned to the front had the chance to control the aircraft once the pilot leveled the plane in the air.

We are looking for vendors for our annual Fine Arts Department Winterfest Event on Dec 11, 6:00-8:00 in the SCHS Commons. Vendor spots will be available for students and community vendors.

Please provide the nurse with copies for your students Immunization records on the GA Form 3231. I also need a copy of your students' 3300 Form ( Hearing, Vision, Dental and Nutrition). If you have not done so please make an appointment with your private doctor to request these documents be completed or the Health department.

We have a rich tradition in athletics here at Sandy Creek with more than 10 State Championships in sports such as football, basketball, track, and volleyball.

Our scoreboard was built in 1991 and we are in need of a new board to match our dynamic and talented athletic teams. The vision at Sandy Creek High School is to provide students a competitive advantage in whatever endeavor they choose after high school. About Notable Narratives:

NN is a 501 (c)(3) college essay service organization that provides completely free college essay editing services to first generation and/or low income (FGLI) high school seniors applying to college. We do this by pairing college applicants with FGLI college students, as having an advisor that comes from a similar background will allow students to feel more comfortable receiving help

Since our founding in August 2020:

• Our 90 FGLI college advisors have assisted over 1,750 students from 102 unique countries and all 50 states.

• 1 in 4 students who filled out our annual survey were accepted into an Ivy League or Stanford University.

• 94% of our students were BIPOC, and 50% identified as both first-generation and low-income.

Next Steps:

Attached is a Registration Form for you to share with your students. NN’s services are available to those who self-identify as low income and/or first generation; students do not need to identify as both to apply. I will also be sending this resource to the SCHS counselors.

The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.

• Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
• Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
• After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.
