GENERAL INFORMATION

The schedule of volunteer activities will be between 30 and 38 hours per week.
The volunteer will have the opportunity to learn about all the actions developed in Proyecto Abraham. During the first phase of the volunteer period, he/she will observe how the association develops its activities, providing active support in their development. Afterwards, you will take part in the following important activities:
- Support in the textile preparation team for later reuse.
- Camina entre Telas Project. Supporting trainers to teach Spanish, new technologies, job search, etc.
- Support for the Regional Clothes Closet project and the Food Bank in the donation of clothes and food.
- Leisure and free time workshops related to textile recycling and circular economy.
- Promotion of European and mobility projects and programs among young people in the Region of Murcia, as well as among users of our organization.
- Participation in workshops and presentations of the European Solidarity Corps (CES) program in youth organizations, secondary schools in the city of Murcia and the University of Murcia.
-Social and solidarity economy store. Support to store organization and various tasks.
Training: The Camina entre Telas project consists of occupational or Spanish language training for people who are in a situation of social exclusion. The volunteer accompanies the people in charge of the itinerant training courses in Spanish, new technologies or sewing. This activity is linked to the school calendar.
Atelier El Costurerico: this is an insertion project through sewing where the volunteer can do basic tasks of preparation for reuse or textile recycling. In addition, on occasions, the volunteer will accompany the person responsible for environmental awareness in environmental workshops in which sustainability and social equality are discussed and the volunteer will make crafts with the attendees, mostly minors, and sometimes can give talks about volunteering and the European Solidarity Corps.
Social and sustainable economy stores: The volunteer will go to the stores La Recuperadora, of social and solidarity economy to support in the organizational and informative work of the Association and the importance of responsible consumption.
In the non-teaching period the volunteer will have the option to enjoy vacations or days off.
In the period from December 1 to January 7, the activity will be intensified by participating in awareness and leisure workshops around the Christmas activities that take place in Murcia.
During the volunteering period there will be 4 weekends (usually October, November, March and May) in which volunteers will be proposed to participate in the activities carried out by the Association in festivals related to environmental sustainability and social action such as Social Market Fair, The Secret Garden, Market Sostenibles, etc.
The area where the volunteer will develop their activities will be between Puente Tocinos and the municipalities in which the association is present, where they will provide support to people of all ages in vulnerable situations. Volunteers who participate in our project have the opportunity to learn about all the areas and sectors in which the association works, participate in the general organization of activities, always in the company of a person responsible for our association.
In terms of learning, the volunteers will have a new opportunity to relate with people that will foster their personal development, they will be in contact with people from other cultures, countries, religions and customs that will make them more tolerant and open-minded. Through these relationships they will understand the reality, the community and the circumstances in which the beneficiaries of our association live. In this way, they will discover other realities, creating a new perspective on their own reality, giving more importance to their own lives and finally acting collectively.
All the activities developed in Proyecto Abraham are linked to the Sustainable Development Goals, which, among other things, brings an added European value to our project.
Our volunteering project seeks to promote the values promoted by the EU and the CES Program, such as solidarity, equality, justice, respect, the fight against exclusion and xenophobia, etc.
HOW TO APPLY

FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER´S LIVE
Practical arrangements: The schedule of the volunteer activities will be between 30 and 38 hours per week. The volunteer will work max. 38 hours on 5 days per week.
Holidays: According to the rules of ESC, volunteers must have 2 working days off per month.
Accommodation: The volunteers will live in a room in a shared flat located in the city of Murcia together with other volunteers. The room and the flat will be fully equipped, and electricity, water, gas and internet will be covered by the lead organization (till the amount of 30€ per volunteer).
Pocket money: The volunteer will receive the monthly rate foreseen by the Spanish NA, 186€ per month.
Food: The volunteer will receive 184€ for food every month.
Local transport: Every volunteer will have a chance to choose a bike or bus card provided by the hosting organization if it is needed.
Language support: The volunteer is entitled to receive language support with an online platform, as stated on the ESC programme guide.
Medical insurance: The volunteer will be covered by a private insurance that will cover all the expenses not covered by the public health system (health, accident and civil liability insurance).
Travel costs: The volunteer will receive financial support for travel from his/her country to Spain and from Spain to his/her country once the project is completed, up to a maximum amount established by the European Commission according to the distance band.
Visa and residence permit fees: The volunteer will receive financial support for visa arrangements (if required).
Deposit: The volunteer will have to make a 370 euro deposit that will be reimbursed once the project is ended and the volunteer leaves tidy, clean, and with no damage in the private room and common areas, and if the volunteer doesn't leave the project without a justified reason before it ends.
VOLUNTEER PROFILE
This project is aimed at young people between 18 and 30 years old who have not participated in any European volunteering project (EVS or ESC) before. We will give priority to the selection of young people with fewer opportunities.
The selection will be made based on the attitude, the willingness to participate, the motivation and the commitment to the values of the project rather than knowledge and skills of the candidates .
We value the responsibility, the spirit of initiative, the patience and the ability to step back from interpersonal conflicts in order to deal with them more effectively, and the enthusiasm and willingness to participate in the different activities offered.
No young person willing to participate in our project will be excluded for any reason (economic difficulties; social or geographical obstacles; cultural or ideological differences; sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, gender and gender identity, etc.).
ABOUT PROYECTO ABRAHAM
The Proyecto Abraham Association offers full support to migrants, minors and all people at risk of social exclusion. Born in 1997, it develops its actions in the Region of Murcia with the aim of promoting social action and environmental protection. From the beginning Proyecto Abraham helps all people with migratory status, with addiction problems, unemployed, people with economic difficulties, lack of social resources to face their difficulties and, in general, people at risk of social exclusion.
The objectives of the association are:
- To disseminate the results of the activities carried out by the association in the social, cultural, labour and educational areas;
- To give a speech and carry out concrete actions against racism, xenophobia and any action that may cause a violation of human rights;
- Promote employment and socio-cultural integration;
- Enhance the encounter between different peoples through the development of cultural events;
- To support cultural exchange by encouraging coexistence between different groups of people, as well as the recovery and promotion of popular traditions, especially those belonging to the Region of Murcia and the specific aspects of each nationality that characterize the members of the association;
- To centralize the collection of solid waste, clothes, shoes, toys, paper, scrap metal, furniture, electrical appliances and all kinds of material that can be reused, recycled and/or recovered, with subsequent sale in shops, markets, or sending/selling to Third World countries.
- To fight against unemployment, social exclusion, xenophobia, racism and any other circumstance that nullifies the dignity of the person and creates a process of marginalization.
- To consolidate the multi-ethnic and intercultural group, formed by the members of the association, as a resource to promote social integration.
- To support transients and immigrants, promoting their social integration through the development of different activities.
Proyecto Abraham carries out its activities throughout the Region of Murcia, but the headquarters, which houses people at risk of social exclusion and one of the shops, is located in Puente Tocinos. The infrastructures used for waste separation are located in Lorquí and La Unión. The Association has another shop located in Caravaca de la Cruz. In addition, the Association carries out itinerant socio-occupational workshops in all the municipalities of the Region of Murcia and carries out community intervention, integral educational improvement, educational and cultural projects in different areas of the city of Cartagena.
