Message from our Principal
Wrapping Up a Wonderful Year!
Dear Prairie Rose Families,
As we approach the final weeks of the school year, the excitement in our hallways is impossible to miss! It has been an incredible year of learning, growth, and connection—and we’re closing it out with a celebration of all things fun, active, and memorable.
Totally Fun Tuesday is Almost Here!
One of the highlights of the season will be our Totally Fun Tuesday, featuring inflatables and laughter-filled activities that our students are sure to love. It’s a chance for everyone to unwind and celebrate all their hard work this year! Please watch for the permission slip coming home.
5th Grade Track Meet & Farewell
Our 5th graders will participate in the all school track meet, showing off their energy, sportsmanship, and Prairie Rose pride. We are so proud of them and will truly miss them as they take their next steps to Wachter Middle School. While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we are excited for all the new adventures that await them.
Field Day Fun & Field Trips Galore
We also have Field Day coming up—a student favorite full of outdoor games and teamwork! In addition, many of our classes are heading out on end-of-year field trips that offer enriching, real-world learning experiences. It’s been a joy to watch our students explore, discover, and enjoy these special moments.
Looking Ahead: Camp Edventure
For those joining us for Camp Edventure, we can’t wait to see you from June 2nd through June 27th. It’s a great opportunity to keep minds engaged through fun, hands-on learning throughout the summer.
Thank you, families, for your support, encouragement, and partnership this year. Prairie Rose is a special place because of the strong community we share. Let’s finish the year strong—and don’t forget to pack sunscreen and smiles! 😊
With appreciation,
Dr. Tabby Rabenberg
Principal, Prairie Rose Elementary

Literacy Adventures with Mrs. Andrea Frovarp
As the school year winds down and summer break approaches, it's the perfect time to start planning for a season full of fun and reading! Research shows that students who continue reading over the summer are more likely to retain the literacy skills they've built during the school year. As your library media specialist, I encourage you to make reading a part of your family's summer routine.
Here are a few simple ways to keep literacy alive over the summer months:
- Stick to a Reading Routine
Set aside 20–30 minutes a day for independent or family reading. Whether it’s in the morning with breakfast or during a relaxing evening, a consistent time for reading helps children stay connected to books. - Mix It Up
Encourage kids to read a variety of materials—graphic novels, magazines, audiobooks, poetry, or even recipes! Reading for pleasure and exploring different genres keeps things exciting. - Pack a Book for Every Adventure
Heading to the beach, the park, or a road trip? Books are easy to carry and provide great entertainment on the go. - Visit the Public Library
Your local library is an incredible resource with summer reading programs, free events, book clubs, and reading challenges for all ages. It’s also a great way for kids to choose their own books, which boosts motivation and enjoyment. - Join a Summer Reading Program
Many public libraries offer incentives and fun activities to keep kids reading. Stop by your nearest branch or check their website to get involved! - Create a Summer Journal
A summer journal is a wonderful way to promote literacy, reflection, and creativity during the break. Create a special place to capture memories, adventures, and everyday moments
Let’s work together to avoid the “summer slide” and make literacy a joyful part of your child’s summer experience. Happy reading and see you all in the fall!
Nurse's Note - Shyla Suchy, RN
If your child has any medication at school, it will need to be picked up on or before the last day of school on May 23rd. All medications not picked up by May 23rd will be properly disposed of, unless your child is attending Camp Ed this summer. This includes epi-pens and inhalers.
Immunizations
Summer is a good time to catch up on all required immunizations. Contact your primary care physician or Bismarck Burleigh Public Health (701)355-1540 to schedule an appointment.
