Course 4596 : Increasing Student Engagement with Questioning & Discussion Techniques
Have you ever wondered why questioning and discussion techniques are the only instructional strategies referred to specifically in Danielson’s Framework? Come learn how to use these strategies to both deepen and uncover student understanding and to support your instructional moves within lessons. Learn how these strategies are applicable across all grades and content areas. Participate as a student, reflect on your learning through teaching and put small action plans into place between sessions. Participants will learn and use specific discussion/talk moves that promote student engagement and classroom discourse. Make connections to the Danielson Framework for Teaching, the K-12 Speaking and Listening Standards, and Practice Standards in both Mathematics and Science. Presented by district Math TOSA Susan Watson. Earn up to 6 clock hours.

Course 4606 : How to Assess 3-D Learning in Your Classroom (Secondary)

We will examine potential challenges associated with developing three-dimensional assessment and learn how to include Crosscutting Concepts (CCCs), Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs), and Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs) in assessment tasks. Participants will analyze assessment examples, and then dive into their own standards, with evidence statements, and develop multi-component tasks that recognize diversity in the classroom and promote equity through inclusive science instruction. Designed for Grade 6, 7, 8 and high school teachers. Presented by district Science TOSA Andrea Parker, William Baur, and Miki Ray. Earn up to 4 STEM clock hours.
