The Sky's the Limit
February 2024
Congaree families,
It is February and we've got a lot of things going on... Black History Month, School Counselors Appreciation, School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, Random Acts of Kindness Day, Public Schools Week, the Spring Book Fair, and Career and Technical Education College Month…Whew! We didn't even name some of the other events happening. Check Dojo, social media, and the Weekly Parent Communications for more information.
We are still cruising along and we continue to make progress as a school. Congaree students have completed Math and Reading Winter Star testing and our students have made some of the highest growth in the district. Teachers should be sending home a Star Parent Report that shows a glimpse of how students are progressing. If you need help understanding the Star Parent Report, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Regular attendance is crucial for academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school consistently and arrives on time. Beginning on Monday, February 5, 2024, students will not be dismissed from the main office after 2:00 pm. This will ensure that our students get all of their needed instructional time in the afternoon.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. We look forward to a month filled with learning, growth, and memorable moments. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
Mr. Dickey
Principal

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month
Cavities are one of the most common chronic diseases of childhood, yet cavities are preventable. Children who have poor oral health often miss more school and receive lower grades than children who don’t. Untreated cavities can cause pain, infections, and can lead to problems eating, Good oral care in children is essential to starting a healthy lifetime habit. Children should brush their teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled child sized toothbrush and a pea-size amount of fluoride toothpaste using a circular motion. If you need assistance in making a dental appointment, please contact Nurse Ginny.
Special Olympics Polar Plunge
Students are asked to bring in money and donate to a specific teacher. The teacher that has the most money donated to their name would have to participate in the polar plunge with Officer Hardin and Coach O'Hora. The plunge is Saturday, February 10th at Lake Murray. All proceeds go to Special Olympics.
