Peeking around Harbins
Saturday, August 24th
Harbins families,
These first weeks of the school year have been incredibly meaningful and fun! We had our first Parent Workshop, featuring information from our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) team! We enjoyed food, music, and conversation at our Lunch on the Lawn for families and students in grades 1st-5th grade! And let's talk about All Pro Dads/Adults! We had a packed cafeteria Friday morning with dads/caring adults and their kids making connections and enjoying breakfast together! Our next All Pro Dads/Adults Friday will be September 27th!
This week we have the opportunity to welcome parents/guardians into the school for Curriculum Night on Tuesday for Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade and Thursday for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the teacher(s) and learning environment your child will spend the 24-25 school year! You will gain knowledge about your child's academic day and the chance to have any questions you have answered!
This school year Harbins is making a commitment to providing our students with the opportunity to read more each and every day (DEAR Dismissal) as well as bringing books home to read (or to be read to) daily! The amount of time a student has the opportunity to read each day, has a strong positive relationship to academic growth and achievement! Our Book Fair begins Monday and will be open prior to our Curriculum Night sessions on Tuesday and Thursday! The Book Fair is a great way to increase your home library!
We look forward to seeing you this week for Curriculum Night!

It is time for our Back-to-School book fair!
It will be Monday August 26th through Friday August 30th. Students will shop with their classes. Please ask their teachers what day/time your student will be shopping.
On the two curriculum nights, Tuesday August 27th and Thursday August 29th we will open for families to shop from 4PM-6PM each day. Those are the only two days we will be open later.
Families are welcome to shop with their students when their class visits. We will be using eWallet again at this fair, but we are not able to give updated information on leftover funds. It will print on the receipt, but any other questions will have to go directly through eWallet where you sign up.

Yearbooks are now on sale!
Quantities are limited so get yours before they are gone.
Please go to YearbookOrderCenter.com and use the school code 25622. Also, please make sure to verify that your sale actually went through your account. Last year PayPal rejected a few orders as spam and parents were not aware and were unable to get a yearbook. If you have any questions, please contact Laurie Aldridge in the media center.
For the first time, 5th grade parents have the option to purchase an ad/tribute to your student. This will be published in the back of the yearbook. Flyers are coming home with all of the information you will need, such as price, sizes available, and how to create. Please know that this is a separate purchase from the yearbook and is completely optional. The deadline for this will be February 2025.
