STATE CHAMPS
Yet once again this school year, we put the MP in chaMPs! #PointerNation caps off a historic season with our first-ever gold team trophy in Golf at the WIAA State Championships in Kohler Tuesday.
After finishing second last year, and third the two years prior, the Pointers broke through and claimed first place in Division 3 by a dominating 20 strokes over runner-up Chetek-Weyerhaeuser.
Individually, Drew Aschliman also received a medal as the top Pointer in 5th, Alex Ross finished 7th, Eli Lindsey 13th, Reid Acherman 16th, and Spencer Workman 38th.
We are so proud of you, not only for your efforts on the course but for the fine young people you are. You have outdone yourselves with this amazing accomplishment!

FFA WASHINGTON LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
Mineral Point FFA Chapter members Cameron Patterson, Izzy Dannenberg, Johnny Robinson, and Luke Schubert had a great time at the Washington Leadership Conference last week! WLC inspires FFA members to become changemakers in their communities. Each day of the conference focuses on a different principle taught through the context of our nation’s capital. These principles include exploration, encouragement, advocacy, and service. At the end of the week, members leave with a Living to Serve Plan they can implement in their communities.
GLOW PARTY
1st grade held a year-end celebration with a glow party -- their future is so bright!
SOURCES OF STRENGTH
A group of our Sources of Strength Peer Leaders had the honor of presenting at the Community Wellness Mental Health Summit held at Southwest Tech in Fennimore last week!
Sources of Strength is a best practice youth mental health promotion and suicide prevention program designed to harness the power of peer social networks to create healthy norms and culture, ultimately preventing suicide, violence, bullying, and substance misuse. The mission of Sources of Strength is to prevent adverse outcomes by increasing wellbeing, help-seeking, resiliency, healthy coping, and belonging. Sources of Strength moves beyond a singular focus on risk factors by utilizing an upstream approach for youth suicide prevention. This upstream model strengthens multiple sources of support, or protective factors, for young people so that when times get hard, they have strengths to rely on.

WE ARE HIRING
The Mineral Point Unified School District is hiring for the 2024-25 school year. Come join the great place that is #PointerNation where our mission is educating and inspiring our students for a bright future in a big world!

-- Part-time English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher: https://wecan.waspa.org/Vacancy/207987
-- The Musical Theatre Club is searching for a Master Builder! The Master Builder is responsible for the procuring and/or building of backdrops, furniture, and other large set pieces during the majority of the fall musical season. Two weeks before the show opens, they help to move these pieces into the venue, and are in charge of managing the backstage crew of students. At the end of the show season, they help to strike the pieces and move out of the venue. Because of these duties, the Master Builder should have their own power tools, have access to a space to build prior to move-in, be willing to collaborate creatively with the other directors as needed, and keep student safety a priority. For the Fall 2024 season, we are producing "Big Fish: School Edition" at the Mineral Point Opera House. Move-in takes place on Sunday 11/10, shows will take place on Friday 11/22 7pm, Saturday 11/23 7pm, and Sunday 11/24 1:30pm, and move-out takes place directly after the final show.
