Field Trips
We have several field trips this month! Please make sure your child wears his/her field trip shirt on the day of their trip. This is the blue t-shirt that says Future World Changer that PTO provided during our Boosterthon. Only approved chaperones may join students on the trip and this should be arranged with the teacher ahead of time. Chaperones may not bring siblings or other children on the trip. We would like to thank our PTO, and all of you that have supported PTO fundraising, for providing these shirts as well as for giving $1000 to each grade to reduce field trip costs for all students. This deduction has been applied to the yearly total for trips and we are so grateful for their partnership!
New in the Cafeteria: A La Carte Options
Starting November 12th, the cafeteria will have A La Carte items (such as cookies, brownies, Goldfish, Cheez-Its, etc) available for purchase during student lunch times. We will only do this on Tuesdays. Students will not be able to charge a debt to their accounts for a la carte items. They may bring in cash or you can put money on their account using their student # on https://login.myschoolbucks.com/users/register/getsignup.action?login_hint=&clientID=schoolbucks. This is completely optional and students must have cash or money on their accounts to participate. If they leave the money in the classroom one Tuesday, they can wait until the next Tuesday to purchase an item. This will not take the place of a meal; it is just an option for an added treat.
You're Invited: Veterans Day Program
We invite our Veterans to join us on Monday, November 11th, at 9am for a celebration in your honor. Mrs. Hawkins and the ACA Honor Choir have prepared a wonderful program to recognize the Veterans in our community.

Lost & Found
This time of year our Lost & Found collection gets quite large. Please make sure your child's first and last name is inside coats, bookbags, and lunchboxes so that we can return them to their rightful owner.
Coming Soon: iLead
We are so excited to announce that we will be starting a new program to support our magnet focus of communication and leadership. Each month we will be learning a new leadership trait. We will include the month's trait in our newsletter so that you can talk about it at home too! We will begin talking about choices in December so stay tuned for more information next month!
Classroom Spotlight is on FOURTH Grade This Month
Mrs. Morrissey's Class
Mrs. Morrissey's class has been learning about the internal structures of the human body. We've been studying the skeletal system. We sketched our hands and drew the bones in our hand, wrist, and arm. We used oil to make our drawings look like an x-ray of our arm. Take a look at our drawings hanging up outside the library.
Mrs. West's Class
Students made a robotic finger. This showed how joints, tendons, and muscles work together as systems.
Mrs. Lyda's Class
Mrs. Lyda's class has been working on growing as readers and writers. We use a variety of materials to help us grow daily, such as, HMH, technology, coding, journaling, and classroom community. The stronger we are together, the more successful we will be as individuals!
Mrs. Wilson's Class
Students are learning about some external structures of animals that help them survive.
Mrs. Arnold's Class
Students worked on a 4-square activity with their groups to help with vocabulary words.
Important Reminders from Nurse Leigh
Please do NOT send your child to school if they have or have had:
1. Fever more than 100.4 degrees within the last 24 hours (must be fever free without medication)
2. Vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours
3. Continuous coughing not relieved with cough medicine
District 5 School district does not allow ANY school personnel, including the nurse, to give ANY medication without a District Medical Form signed by the parent and a doctor. This includes ALL over the counter medications, even cough drops. These forms are available in the health room.
As the cold and flu season approaches, we would greatly appreciate your assistance in preventing the spread of illnesses in our school. Please help us teach your children good health habits to protect themselves as well as others:
1. Plenty of rest and good nutrition.
2. Do not share utensils, water bottles, containers or clothing
3. Keep hydrated by drinking healthy fluids
4. When coughing or sneezing, cover the nose and mouth by coughing or sneezing into a tissue or elbow.
5. Practice frequent handwashing or hand sanitizer use. This is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs!!! Have them sing Happy Birthday while they wash to show them how long this should take.
If you are called to pick your student up due to illness, please have a plan in place to be at the school within 30 mins. If you have a change in phone number, please contact the school ASAP with all changes so we are able to contact you in a timely manner.
Thank you in advance for working with us to keep your children healthy, safe, and in school.
Community Involvement
Our school values community involvement, and we are continuously exploring ways to strengthen our ties with the local community. If you have any suggestions or ideas for community outreach projects or partnerships, please don't hesitate to reach out.
