A Message from the Principal
Happy end of quarter one! It’s been so fun to see students establish their learning routines at school, become masters at navigating their schedule and different responsibilities that come with middle school, and making newer and stronger connections with each other. While the quarter doesn’t mark the official end of a marking period (that will happen at the semester), we are checking in with students on this spot in their learning to make some new mini goals for success in Quarter 2.
We also had a wonderful first Flock Day to celebrate the end of the quarter. It was so fun to see students trying a new skill (like learning to crochet), serving their neighbors (like filling Snack Packs at the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf), exploring our neighborhood…even in the snow storm (like Pokemon Go at Hansen Park), and exploring the wider Twin Cities at the State Capitol and beyond. This is where middle schoolers thrive--with hands on, real life learning opportunities!
We look forward to the next quarter and what it will bring. Please consider signing up for our first parent/teacher conferences on Nov. 12 to connect more about your child’s progress.
Sincerely,
Lindsey Samec

Provide feedback on student cell phones
This year, the School Board is asking the community to provide feedback regarding student use of cell phones in schools. This feedback will be shared with an advisory committee of parents, students and staff for their review. The group will identify themes found in the responses and provide recommendations to the School Board. The feedback and recommendations will ultimately be used to help inform the creation of a cell phone policy.
Learn more at www.mvpschools.org/cellphones.
Information about this effort and links to surveys can be found at www.mvpschools.org/cellphones. Surveys will close on November 3.Did You Know?
