MESSAGE FROM MS LINDA
Tēnā koutou katoa. Nau mai ki te whānau o te Oratia. Talofa lava. Malo e lelei. Zdravo. Ni hao. Namaste. Kamusta. Greetings Oratia whānau and families.
What a great time we had last night at the Community Picnic. There was such a great turnout from you all and we so appreciated your presence. The children seemed to be very happy running around with their friends, jumping on the bouncy castles and eating the iceblocks, sausages and fruit made available for them.
Big thanks to Oratia Kindy for supplying drinks for us all and sharing that glowing green playdough. Thank you to CMG Construction for their sponsorship of the bouncy castles, to the Glen Eden Barfoot and Thompson team for their sponsorship of the very much appreciated iceblocks, and to Ivan Nola for his provision of the delicious fruit.
Huge thanks to our hard working PTA team on the barbeque, cooking all those yummy sausages, and serving our students all evening. If you like to contribute to your community and think that you could lend a hand like these PTA parents do, we would love to have you join our team. Contact Hannah Denton at han.denton@gmail.com or the school office to register your interest.
Thanks to Matt Moncur, Matthew Barnett and Paul Goldsmith for their dulcet tones and smooth music that serenaded us throughout the event. Their music really added a lovely warm atmosphere to the whole evening, and we really loved having them perform for us and serve us in that way.
Finally thanks to our staff who stayed on after a full work day to man the bouncy castles and serve and mingle. I hope that you had the chance to have a chat to some of them. It was so nice to hear from you how happy your children are with their teachers, and how you have appreciated the level of communication coming your way from the class.
The picnic is a really nice way to start the school year together as a community, and helps set the tone for how we want Oratia School to be for you and your whānau.
Take care and stay safe.
Kia kaha, kia atawhai.
Ngā mihi nui, Ms Linda
On Tuesday, we held our Oratia School Community Picnic. The weather was lovely and a great day was had by all. A big THANK YOU to our sponsors who supported our picnic - Construction Management Group and Barfoot and Thompson Glen Eden for providing sponsorship, Ivan Nola for supplying all of the fruit, and to the band, Matthew Moncur, Matthew Barnett and Paul Goldsmith. A special mention also to the Oratia School PTA who managed the sausage sizzle and the Oratia Kindy for supplying the drinks.
THE LOST KITTEN
by Honey Blainey
Once upon a time there was a little kitten who lived in a box and didn't have a home.
In the morning a little girl was going for a walk and then the little kitten came out. The little girl was so surprised so she picked up the kitten and went back home. But she didn’t want her mum to know so she had to hide the kitten in her bedroom.
It is hard to sleep in a room. The girl saw that the kitten was uncomfortable so she decided to go get a box. The kitten jumped into the box. Luckily she had blankets and pillows so she could put them in the box. The kitten was so tired she went to sleep. The End.
Oratia School Sign
Yesterday, Rogue Graphics delivered and installed our new school sign at the bus bay entrance to our school. A huge thank you to our PTA for sponsoring this sign. We think it is a wonderful addition to our school.
