Dear Parents, Guardians and Students
What a great week we had for Homecoming! Not only was it jam-packed with activity, but Mother Nature provided a perfect setting for our Best of the Bay Day, football game, dance and Bay Gives Back bag drop. As a school, we emphasize the importance of engagement, belonging and connection and it was great to see that play out for many students over the week.
Looking ahead, we should be able to regroup a bit. We will have a slightly extended advisory schedule on Friday as we will be holding a short assembly with a guest speaker from Kinship Community Center, who will emphasize the importance of generosity, not only as it relates to the food drive, but as a Source of Strength to all involved.
Kind regards,
Amy Levek
STATE CHAMPION
WOW, WOW, WOW! Congratulations to Clare Schaefer for becoming the WIAA Division 1 Singles STATE CHAMPION on Saturday. Way to go, Clare!!
Bike Thefts
For about the last year or so, bike thefts have become rampant in our community. I would venture to guess we have a bike stolen about every other week at the high school alone. Some are recovered, but most are not. Every one of them has been unlocked (until Friday) which makes our school a continued target for theft. Last Friday, we had two e-bikes stolen during the football game by people who had tools to break/burn through locks. Please encourage your student to lock their bike as this is the only way to prevent most thefts. According to officers, typically bikes are being stolen and nearly immediately sold. We do not have the resources to investigate these thefts in a timely manner so we will have to call the police when a report is made.
Fundraising Success for ABCD
As a new element of Homecoming this year, our Spirit Bowl event also served as a fundraiser for the ABCD (After Breast Cancer Diagnosis). The vision for this partnership came from Megan Gruber and was supported by students and parents alike in the coordination of the Spirit Bowl. This event was wonderfully successful and raised $1800 for the ABCD organization. Thank you for your donations! As this is also our month to focus on Generosity as part of our Sources of Strength learning, I can think of no better addition to our Homecoming week festivities!
