Welcome Back CMSD Family and Friends!

As we come back from the holiday break, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge that we are in the middle of School Board Recognition Month! This designation has been set aside each January as a time to honor the individuals of our board of education, and school boards across the county, which serve multiple, essential functions. Besides serving as the governing body of the school district, and establishing important policies, the board approves the budget, and members are the chief advisors to me on the pulse of the community. Through my experience, I know that effective boards of education impact student achievement, and the more effective the board, the better its district’s overall students’ performance.

Last month, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb appointed three new school board members. Selected from a pool of forty-two applicants, the three demonstrate all the leadership qualities of an effective board. Our three new members are Pastor Ivory Jones III, Caroline J. Peak, and Jerry Terrell Billups.

I am so grateful for the leadership of our CMSD Board of Education, not only in January, but throughout the year! I encourage everyone to attend a school board meeting or watch the livestream video of a meeting on TV20 to see our board members dedication and commitment to CMSD in action. I am confident you won’t be disappointed!

Check your student's attendance and grades using the CMSD Electronic Gradebook. My Powerhub in Powerschool is our CMSD Electronic Gradebook. Your principal or administrator has your access codes to log into the portal.

With Parent-Teacher conferences right around the corner on February 5th and 6th, now is the time to identify any issues or spot some reasons for recognition.
