Our School this week: Spotlight on Exploritory
Each quarter students will participate in one of four exploratory rotations, Tech Lab, Computer Technology, Music and Art. While recognizing the intrinsic value of the arts, students will also discover the meaningful connections between the arts and other disciplines, and how the arts contribute to their communities and cultures around the world. For more information regarding the curriculum click here. Tech lab integrates science, technology, and engineering (STE) which are central to the lives of all citizens when they analyze current events, make informed decisions about healthcare, or decide to support public development of community infrastructure. For more information about the curriculum click here. Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science Curriculum Standards are grouped into 4 strands. Medford Public Schools is committed to preparing students for success in the future. For more information on the Computer Technology and Digital Literacy curriculum click here.
JOIN THE PTO: We need you to make AMS Community the best!
There are so many amazing reasons to join the PTO. Research shows students of parents who are involved in the school have better grades, fewer disciplinary problems and feel connected to their community. Joining us will be a great way to get acclimated to Andrews if this is your first year at the school. The PTO is essential by providing support for our teachers who are often looking for new and exciting ways to add content to the classroom, provides much needed fundraising to provide events and enrichment opportunities to students, and creating a caring and supportive environment. We can't accomplish many of the great things we have in mind without your support. Lastly, you might just have fun!
Our first meeting will be September 16th and will take place at the school from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. At this meeting we will welcome the new board members, share our plans for the upcoming school year and seek members to serve on committees for events that are essential to student life.
We are kicking off our first fundraising event of the year with a Pledge Drive. This is the opportunity to help us jumpstart the plans for the year without having to purchase something that will sit in a drawer at home! Please pledge as little or as much as you can, and consider asking your company to match your donation if they do so.
Finally, we want to invite you to our first event -Family BBQ on September 26th at the school. We will enjoy some dinner, popcorn, sno-cones, and games. This is a great opportunity to meet some of your fellow parents and your students friends! We look forward to seeing you. Tickets will go on sale September 18th and will be sold at lunch and online and are $7.00 per person.
Meet the Principal & Assistant Principal
Tuesday, September 10th please join Principal Jennifer Skane and Assistant Principal Farah Lalli as we share the day in the life of an AMS student, how we approach building safety, and share some of our norms and expectations.
