Message from Mr. Kingery
Dear Art Rutkin Elementary Families,
We have a lot to be thankful for after two successful weeks of school. All of our students have settled into regular routines from arrival to dismissal. We had our first practice fire drill on Thursday. It was a great success with all students showing they know how to be safe, considerate, and responsible during emergency drill practices. The whole school worked together, and put safety first throughout the entire practice drill. Great job Rams!!! Please let your child’s teacher know about any conversations at home that we can help support at school as we teach, practice and reflect on our safety drills. Bus safety and evacuation will be our next emergency drill practice on Friday, September 20th. We work with our bus company, Student Transportation of America (STA), drivers for bus safety and emergency practice.
Thank you to our amazing PSO volunteers on behalf of our entire school community. The first meeting on Sept. 9th was a great success. We had about 20 parents participate which made for a great turn out. We are looking forward to another successful Fun Run on Friday, September 27th. The times will be between 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM. We will have grades kindergarten & 1st, 2nd & 3rd and 4th & 5th participate together in three Fun Run sessions. Exact times will be shared by your child’s teacher. There will also be a fun school spirit week leading up to the Fun Run on Friday the 27th. Attached are the themes for each day during spirit week. See your child’s classroom newsletters and messages for this information as well. Please consider coming to the next PSO meeting on Oct. 7th.
Art Literacy & Volunteering
Art Literacy lessons are starting next week. Art Literacy is a volunteer run program. No prior experience is needed, and it is a lot of fun to work with students through Art Literacy lessons. Please contact your child’s teacher, or our Art Literacy Coordinator at rutkinartlit@gmail.com.
Arrival & Dismissal
Thank you to all our families! We made a few small changes to our dismissal procedures between our bus loading area and the upper parking lot entrance. This has provided all walkers and bikers a one-way path to leave campus. We appreciate our families doing a great job to keep this sidewalk open for students dismissing from school, and using the outer sidewalks to meet students by the Art Rutkin Oak Tree for in person pick up. Reminder: If you are using the car pick up line during dismissal, please stay in the car line by the curb. Leaving the car line to pass cars can create unsafe situations. Please be patient at all times in our parking lots. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation to keep arrival and dismissal times safe for students and families.
With Gratitude,
Mr. Jamie Kingery
Principal
